I have cleaned and resealed my carbs with Redeye seals. I also purchased new runner to head O-rings. I am wanting to reinstall the carbs, but I noticed that my carb to runner boots are dry and hard. I know the correct answer is to replace them, but in the meantime, can I use a fuel resistant sealant to make sure that I don't have any vacuum leaks? How about Permatex Permashield? Has anyone done this and what did you use?

All of mine are pretty stiff. They are thicker than normal carb boots on most bikes. I would just make sure you have everything installed correctly and tightened.

Food safe silicone spray will help. If they are still flexible and not cracked thru , they are usable. The spray will soften and make them slide on easier. Be sure to recheck the clamp screws after you install the tubes.
