A friend and I went on a ride on Monday since the weather had cleared a bit and we had not gotten out.   We went to visit someone in the hospital then around Martin county. It was beautiful and he wanted to show me this tree lined road that the trees were like a canopy over it. He had bought the Valk after riding mine he liked it so much but he doesn't have the thing totally outfitted yet. He has 5k on it and the stock tires, seat and no bags. He is going on a trip and the seat on the bike is killing him so he wanted to try mine. I didn't really want to part with mine since I knew how uncomfortable those seats are and with the factory tires its not anywhere as light or quick.

So as we change out and ride awhile he motions me to pull over and we switch out again. I guess we all get used to our bikes and I asked him how did you like the seat and his reply was funny. "I guess you have to ride from the beginning since its pretty hard, but you sit lower and it feels like your part of the bike though". The other comment he made was a surprise since he has the same bike. He said I have a skinny bike  ???  He has foot pegs on the crash bars and his legs are way out to the sides. I did look at him going down the road and he takes up almost the whole lane with the pegs. Plus with the tires it makes it more like a Harley that you cruise on rather than more towards a sport bike.

I thought about how small changes really make the bike our own even on the same bike. Now I have to wonder if he is going to like the tires when he has to switch them out since he is going to have a more responsive bike. What a great bike the Valkyrie is that it can accommodate differences yet still perform flawlessly.

I can see what you mean Robert.  If some rode my Valk they probably wouldn't like it.  Mainly because of the bars I put on, but it suits me perfectly.  cooldude

The ride is a little more cushy and it doesn't seem harsh anymore.  I went over some pretty rough roads under construction and I didn't feel like my I was being hammered on.  It actually rode really well.  I put the dampner on the lowest setting and I weigh 250lbs, so that might be why it works well.

Thanks, was wondering since I was thinking about it, but like most projects not including maintenance,  its one of those things that maybe some day, Ill do it. I am really not unhappy with the suspension but could I be more happy with it  Wink
