I noticed my left radiator pod has a crack where the Baker Air Wings mount.  So I figured I would order another piece ( ~$230 for just one piece of the pod) but the black piece has been discontinued and is no longer available Sad . I could get a green and silver and repaint it.

I do have another I/S scattered in parts across the garage.  The "boy" says he is going to get it back together this year and I have seen a few parts being ordered and the pod on that is ok, but I hate to cannibalize that and not be able to get replacement parts.

I ended up buying a piece on Ebay for $190.   I guess at 19 years, the parts are going to be harder and harder to get.  I am going to see about reinforcing this one so that it can last longer.

Other than that, the I/S is still going strong at 142K miles.

If anybody could MacGyver a solution, without out a doubt it's you. You'll make it work. The engine is bullet proof and will guarantee many more miles of enjoyment.

Brett, I'm on my second set of pods now, the Bakers were made even worse by the addition of the stainless dragon covers. I fabricated  reinforcement plates out of stainless, one goes on the top of the pod where the screws mount, and the other goes below the  top of the pod, sort of a plastic pod sandwich, held in place my the mounting bolts. I had the pods off at the shop in preparation for the engine replacement, the right was pristine, the left was cracked around one of the screw holes, but since it's now sandwiched  between the 2 new pieces of stainless, my thought is to cement the plastic and just reassemble it, I'll try to send a pic via email...

Yeah this will be my third or fourth piece on that pod.  It broke in the same place as yours.   I will probably go with my "abs slurry" this time and really re-enforce the area.  Once cracked at the lower mounting bolt and at least one other cracked at the Baker mounting holes.   I'm not going to give up the Baker's however Wink

I will fix the one that I have to have a spare as well.  The other thing the same as yours is that I have these cut out for the fog lights so I don't want to do that to the pod from the otther I/S because the other I/S does not have the fog lights.

BTW Karen, I found a reference that the fog lights for the Honda Element are the same so there is a replacement for the fog light if something happens.   I had a rock take a chip out of one but it did no break through so it is still good but that is good to know as well.

Terry, seeing as I have been working all day today and it was one of the nice sunny days here, I don't think yet having another hobby of fabricating with ABS is in the cards, at least not yet.  Sniffing the MEK might be however Smiley

I was tempted to do fabrication for the alternator cover as the damn thing is now about $175 for a shitty piece of chromed plastic.  But money won over time and I bought a new one.  Those are still available  ???

I've been playing with steel, granite, and brick this weekend....along with drinking
a lot beer and eating everything in sight.
Was bored with our bbq pit, so tore it all apart and rebuilt from the crushed stone up...

I have 2 iron stair treads that fit into the frame, just in case we want to cook lobstahs and corn on the cobb.........
Yep you got that right.... setting around a peaceful fire, enjoying a few adult beverages, and discussing
what ever comes to mind sure does clear the mind, body, and soul.
Besides, this keeps me busy in the winter cutting bbq wood.

That along with the 10" x 24" x 1" thick piece of I-beam to burn on,
this bbq pit will hold onto the heat for quite a while Dan.
We have had a few 'smaller flames' already, haven't turned
the heat up yet as the ground is quite dry.
Company is arriving @ 1 tomorrow afternoon, I expect some
flames jumping and Laurel telling me; "don't you think that's enough wood on there ??"
We really enjoyed the project....work some have a beer, repeat !!!
The anal side of me isn't completely satisfied just yet !!!
