I had a chettering and squeal from my clutch on engagement which has been getting steadily worse.
First thing I did was service the Hydraulics on the clutch new fluid and bled.  The issue continued and still continued to get worse.
Yesterday I pulled the Clutch inner and disassembled it.  I was thinking that perhaps I had an issue with the Damper plate.
Question is, What are the limits or measurements for the damper plate in the Clutch?  There are no specifications for it in the manual and no mention of it other than to install it in the right direction.
What I have now is the two plates of the damper move relative to one another  The rivets are loose but none are broken.  There is a couple of mm of movement relative to each other at most.
I am awaiting a replacement plate that I ordered on speculation so I have no frame of reference.
Thoughts on what It should be?
and thoughts on what else might cause the chattering and squealing on clutch engagement?

Hsve you checked the bearing on the clutch lifter plate? Could be the source of the squealing.

Last October is when my problem started.  When I pull in my clutch lever, I get a shuddering in the clutch lever and a growling noise in the engine. A couple of years ago, I sheared some rivets on the dampner plate. Replaced the dampner plate and all of the clutch plates and discs at that time. Had about 140,000 miles on it then. Now, have the shuddering in the clutch lever and the growling noise. Have 189,000 on it now. Everybody I talked to said it was the throw out bearing.  So, I replaced the slave cylinder and the throw out bearing (the bearing in the lifter plate). To my surprised disappointment (I am not a mechanic), I had the same problem as before.  To make a long story short, I've checked with two Honda mechanics, both very experienced, Stu Oltman on GWRRA magazine, Indybob on this site (thanks Bob) and apparently the only solution is to take the motor out and fix the problem (probably a bearing in the shaft??). The two Honda dealers said $3,000-$3,500.
The old green bike is worth $1,500, and I'm not going to spend thousands to fix it.
So, my solution was to learn to shift without using the clutch. I've had a motorcycle since 1967 and have never tried once to shift without using the clutch. Took me a month or two, but I have found that sweet spot to upshift and downshift without using the clutch. I make less noise shifting the green bike than I do on my 22,000 mile Valk tourer using the clutch. Not a solution, but this is what I'm doing now. I obviously have to use the clutch at a red light or from a stop, but I've eliminated using the clutch 95% (or more) of the time. My phone number is 314 541 1453 if you want more detailed info.   Gary

The shuttering could easily be a bearing and it could be a clutch plate or disc that is warped. Or the basket could be warped. Have you checked those.

Loose rivits in the damper plate - I would replace the plate.

Well I received the new Damper plate today and there is no relative movement between the plates AT ALL.  So it would seem that the Damper plate rivets are loose and on the verge of failure.
I have measured everything else in the clutch pack and it is all within spec.  I hope this take care of the shuddering.  The bearing on the lifter plate is good.
I will post back when I am done with it and let you know how it worked out.
