Went and had the temporary splint removed and permanent (6 week) cast put on yesterday. The assistant liked the look of the stitches and left them in till the next visit on July 10th. I had some movement in the foot. It felt numb though. As she cleaned the incision I couldn't feel her touching the top of my foot. She didn't seem concerned and said it may still be just from the trauma. They are hoping to have me in a walking boot by mid-August and on my own feet by the end of September. Until then still no weight bearing so in and out of the house is a chore. Not only has this ruined my summer but Kathy was looking forward to next week in Rangeley. I told her Bernie is retired and would step in but she wasn't having any of that. So it looks like another 6 weeks of house arrest with the cats.
Enjoy your summer.

Thanks for the update Paul....Try not be discouraged and take a step backwards in your recovery.
One summers spent in 'hover mode' is better than spending the rest of your life with a bum foot, or no foot.
Maybe we can round up a bucket of lobsters and find our way down to your front door !!!

Dude, thanks. The discouraging part is not only am I missing out, but so is Kathy. She's so afraid "something's going to happen" at night that she is sleeping on a blow up mattress in the living room with me. She won't go anywhere on the weekends with her friends because "something might happen" Hopefully we can get to Camden in August for a weekend away. I'll let you know if we do.

It wouldn't be so bad if I knew what I did to cause it. I've stepped in and out if trucks a thousand times. Don't know what I did differently.
