My fridge dosen't kick on. My water was a little warm tonight!  Shocked Sweep out enough dog hair to make a quilt under it on some of the coils. What will this run me to get it fixed. Its on 5 yrs old or so. Kenmore with freezer on the bottom. Hate to get a new one.

Should not run any more then $250.00, That's if the compressor didn't burn up from the coils being neglected. If it's just the start components that start the compressor then $250 tops, if it's the compressor $650, if it's under 5 years old the compressor is under warr.

I new you would respond!  cooldude Wow, I'm hoping for the low end of things. If not, I'd just be better off getting a new one.  Angry  Looks like the coils run all under the bottom of the fridge. The hair was caught on the front ones. The fridge is open on the side so it 'should' have vented enough and not to burn up. But what do I know, I'm just a medic!  Undecided

fugie this is what i would do...............empty the fridge and turn it upside down, take the dog hair that you got from the coils and put it in a paper bag then go out on the front lawn swing the bag over your head and cluck like a chicken for an hour , then go to sears and buy a new fridge.

shave the dog too

I shave him in the spring. He's a Border Collie and spends all day outside with the horse and calf. He'll do this all winter so he needs his coat!

Ok, I'm no expert, Yada Yada, but I think there is a reset on the compressor.  A red push button maybe.  My fridge was not cooling.  It was the defrost thermostat.  Pull the inside panels to see the coils inside.  There is usually a heat coil & sensor there.  Ohm the coil, get small resisitance. Ohming the Sensor will be open warm and closed when placed in the freezer for a while.  Got a friend that will let you cool your sensor?  If those check out ok, then replace thermostat.  Just some ideas.  A nice webby place to get parts https://appliancezone.com/SearchProducts.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1

Repair man came out and was only there a min or 2. Kit said he flipped a switch in the freezer and everything came on. He said the switch is bad and just by luck it came on. He's ordering one and should only be $80. Thought maybe i hit it with some chicken boob I was putting away but he said its bad either way. Cool!
