I have just acquired my first Valkyrie. It's a 98 standard. This pic is terrible. I took it with my phone. I upload a better one when I get her cleaned up and get a little farther along in rehabbing it. She sat in someone's garage for at least a year. I feel bad for her for sitting so long but I'm glad I came along and got her for considerably less than she's worth. Some people just don't know what they have. Anyway I'm in the process of cleaning her up, removing the old bad gas, performing a tune up, and getting tires (ouch). The old avon venoms on there are bald and a little dry rotted. I thought I'd introduce myself to all of you. I'm a long time rider. My dad started me out on a Cushman Highlander when I was only 10 years old and I've been in love with two-wheeled vehicles ever since. I'm 26 now and have quite an appetite for the road. Which is why it kills me that I have this knock out of a bike I can't ride yet, but its better to be safe than sorry especially with a motorcycle. Anyway I'd like to meet some other Valkyrie riders in the Memphis area mainly because I've never seen a Valkyrie in Memphis until I drove up to the people's house where I got this one.

Welcome to the Zoo!
Nice bike, and easy to work on.
Get her done, and join us for InZane X, in July!

Valkocalypse, welcome to the board, and to one of the best rides you'll ever own. I just moved up to Tipton co. last year, but was born and raised in Memphis, and still work there. I've had my Valkyrie for 2 years now - surprised you haven't seen it yet - I ride all around Memphis all the time. It's a bright yellow and cream '98 standard. Mine is down now too. I slid out of a corner near my house 'bout a month and a half ago and dinged her up a bit - rode her on home tho. These are tough bikes. I had to get another tank for it and now I need to paint it. I can't seem to get much done on it as I'm still recovering from rotator cuff surgery on my right shoulder. (injured before the wreck) We'll have to get together and ride sometime when I get mine back together. I have met a few other Valkers down at the Bikes on Beale, but I don't think they post on here. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with on yours. John

Hi there! It is good to meet another Highlander rider! I thought everyone in the world besides me had an Eagle. Welcome to the best club that rides the best bike there is going. If you have any questions or need any help with the bike just post a question on the Tech Board. There are people here who know every nut and bolt on these bikes and they are always willing to help anyone with a problem. They will help in diagnosis of any problem, make suggestions as to the remedy, and if needed, help find the needed part. Sometimes they will even show up at your garage to help. (Provided there is the proper liquid enticement is provided at the end of the project.) Best people here that I have ever been involved with in any club or organization. Welcome aboard and make sure to set aside time to come to Inzane X...JTL

Welcome, Nice color choice. I know that Valks have been in Memphis, because my wife and I rode out there from NC one August. Be safe out there. Enjoy the best bike and the best club that supports it.

My wife was looking over my shoulder when I was looking at your bike and I made the comment on how those colors are so nice together when she reminded me that it looks just like my truck! I told her I should buy another Valkyrie to match my truck, don’t think that’s going to happen!
Nice looking bike!
I haven’t ridden a lot of other cycles, but the Valkyrie is the one I love the most. I can’t understand why Honda made such an excellent product, then abandons it only after a few years! What are we going to do when they’re all gone and only the collectors have ‘em?

welcome to the club,,i want to say that you talk like you got good sense, you know what you said about the tires and all,,,now i want to warn you that the Valk is quicker than a hic up and will dump your butt in a turn if you gas it hard,, yes it will break the back tire loose, so ride with pride and every once in a while let a Harley win,, gives em the big head,,,but we know better,,,,be carefull out there cause everybody is out to get ya,,, i am in mt juliet just east of nashville,,,if you get the urge to ride we could meet half way for a cup of coffee or something,,,

Welcome from Oklahoma City! I grew up in Memphis (Whitehaven actually). My Son still lives on the family farm in Arkabutla MS and we go there quite frequently. I’ll PM the next time we’re going to be in the area and maybe we can get together.

btw......Tip #1. When ya buy chrome, you tell the wife that is increases the gas milage. Ha ha my wife knows too much about engines for that to work unfortunately. She has taken apart and put together more cars than I have owned probably. I definitely have the advantage with bikes though. Grew up helping my dad with his many projects on antique bikes of various sorts. (cushman, simplex, etc.) She has an '03 Road King 100th anniversary edition. I bet if she ever gets on my valkyrie though she'll be wanting one in no time. The weird thing was even after sitting on that Road King she couldn't set the valkyrie upright when we were looking at it. The Valk weighs less though than the Road King. Wonder if it's just weight distribution differences.
