So when you get it all done, I hope you decide to keep it for a while!  It’s going to look AMAZING!  I wish I had the patience to do this much polishing.  I did my wheels on my Valk by hand but they look nothing like your wheels look.  Very, very nice.

he'll have lots of polishing to do if he wants it to be perfect, but chrome plating actually requires less cleaning than say alum or even stainless.  basically just soap and water gets most stuff off unless of course there's tar stuck to it.

For the moment I do plan to keep it. It is such a fine riding king cruiser ride.
But of course if someone flashed some major cash, dunno what I would do...  Tongue

A trip to Harbor Freight and I found some abrasive wheels that I could fix the interference fit thing on rear axle and rear brake pin......

But last month or so, I have run into some life gets in the way stuff, and the build for the moment is on a back seat..... I admit the thing has been apart waaaaaaayyyyyy too frickn long...  Roll Eyes

btw - Kaahn thanks for your post, mbe I just need a bit of a push...   Wink

Well, you've had some setbacks, can't let that stop you. Just look at it like lessons learned and things not to be repeated. For future reference, remember that when chroming, anyplace you do not want plating must be protected or have corks put in the holes, be thankful the wheels were taken care of or you never would have been able to put the bearings back in! The rotors may not be usable, as they will no longer be floating,, that was just a mistake......

Not enough to keep a Valk in pieces,, some times we just got to man up, move on and learn a lesson.. If you get back on the project, you'll be glad you did Mello dude.   Good luck

Also, there have been reports of rear wheel dampers deteriorating because of lubricants used to aid in assembly.

Cant believe 6 months passed with no work, to much Sh!t of life gets in the way stuff.....
Anyhoo new update, mbe I can actually ride the thing this year!

Dealt with the chrome hole miss match and got the rear installed (not torqued) yet. Brake caliper just set on and a quick wipe (no detailing).

Another anyhoo - pretty pleased with the way its turning out, this is the number one reason I did this project, the ugly stock right hand corner with cast center wheel and as cast caliper. Its much better now!  cooldude

Took some quick photos of the brake side.. more to come later.
Enjoy...

Wow-  that's something alright.   Beautiful.

I was wondering about those Goldwing front discs,  I like them better, too.

Nice work-

Thank you -- yes, I like the GW front discs better since they expose more view of the wheel. Oddly enuff
VFR discs also fit.

More stuff to come.  Smiley
