will side covers from a '99 standard fit a '98 Standard? I would like to buy a couple of parts but tried a 99 seat on my 98 and it wont fit, no matter what I do. Have a chance to buy some side covers from a 99 but hesitant...

There are differences in wheel bearing and rotors in relation to maybe 97 model to later models. Other than that anything else fits any other model year. The 99 seat will fit your bike, maybe you are trying to install 99 interstate seat on a 98 standard, if that is the case you will need a clip on the back fender. I have standard seats on my interstate, no problem. Side covers, you are good to go.

thx! As far as the seat goes, it is a 99 standard seat, but i cant get it to latch in the front. i've tried whittling down the area around the latch, but still no worky...wont go down far enough to for the latch to completely close.

Some weirdo thing is going on, then... they should all fit. A good cheap upgrade to an older
Standard/Tourer is to get a newer Standard/Tourer seat, the newer ones are much better - and
they fit.
