I know someone has the answer. I just got my Valk back together recently and finally tried to install my Dyna 3000. The bike will run with it but seems to miss fire and is down on power. It runs great with the stock box so I'm hoping that the gap is off. I had to pull the engine to change the starter idler gear and stripped the block down to send it to a real mechanic to do the work. I just reinstalled the pulse generators and didn't remember to gap them.

TIA

The pulse generators are not designed to be adjustable.  They sort of "press" into their mount and thats where they will sit unless you do something intentional to make them be able to be adjusted.

Dear Slammer,
Dina is a great piece of equipment. The only "problem" is the ratio Cost/Performance.

For only 60$ my Valk increased its power by 10,4HP and 1.5kgm of torque, measured on the testing table:

- polishing intake pipes (gratis, 0$)
- TW 6deg 15$
- K&N air filter 45$

Cost/Performance ratio: 6$ for each additional HP.
Anyone know better???

There is on this site a table with cost/power ratio, highest power increase is achieved with a blower but the price is high.

I'm on the road right now and don't have access to this info (on my PC at home). If nobody chimes in with the answer, I'll post it for you on Friday.
Note: Do not bend the tabs (will break). People have used a round file to enlarge the bolt holes and thus have been able to adjust the pulse generator gap.  cooldude

there is a gap setting for them. I set them at .025 and the bike runs way better. I've got head work done along with alot of other mods to the motor. Last dyno'd at 118 HP. When i brought the heads to be ported the guy took the polished intakes and bead blasted the inside to mix the air and fuel better.

If you have a aftermarket trigger wheel it could have effect, The stock trigger has square profile, and some others were like rounded tips, did not seem to work as well. just a thought.

It seems like there was some talk years ago about this when using the early Dyna's.. Like said, they aren't really adjustable,,but,, its not hard to make them adjustable.. The gap should not make a lot of difference, but, maybe it will with the Dyna.. I would think something in the .012-.015" range should be fine.. I think the normal gap is in the .018-.020" range..

I always set mine based on peak voltage not a physical measurement. Sometimes I find that the mounts are tweaked and the pickups are not sitting square, if you straighten them the peak voltage can double.
