Hey Steve,

Thanks for asking.  Yep, I took the Rumblebee around the block Friday before last for the first time in a while - partly to see how I would do and partly to see if the Sea Foam + Premium gas Wanderer put in the tank 4+ weeks earlier had helped the bogging and smoking that put me on the 'wing the last time I had ridden.  I did fine and the bike was much better, but still not quite right.  I met BnB Tom Saturday and we rode to the Cycle World IMS at the convention center, walked the show, and rode back.  On the way down, I thought to myself 'hey, the Houston folks are having their wrench party today...  it's scheduled for the 14th...  Holy Moly, I rode for the first time post-crash on FRIDAY THE 13TH!"   Shocked   Yep, just one more episode of Dave thumbing his nose...  At least that time it was inadvertent.  I felt great, and the bike seemed to be running better.  Sunday, I got up and rode down to the Original Pancake House on Lemmon, watched several serious gawkers circle the bike while I waited, ate, and went back to the show to double-check a couple of things.

I either loitered about 15 minutes too long or should have gotten on the Tollway back to Frisco.  Backroading it up Midway I began to notice the darkening NW horizon.  I got a few drops on the windshield between Park & Parker, then the bottom fell out.  Rain gear?  Yep.  Safe and sound at home in the garage.  By the time Midway turns into Tennison I was soaked.  After that, I hit every red light on the way home!  I stopped at the Warren/Preston 7-11 to put my phone in the saddlebag and the wind was blowing so hard that the canopy didn't offer any protection.  So, back on the road.  Hey Hay, it was raining almost as hard as it did on us leaving the Royal Gorge!  Got home, closed the garage door behind me, stripped, toweled off, poured water out of my boots, hung the clothes from anywhere I could find, put on my warm-ups, and grinned the whole time I wiped off the bike.  Man o man, it's GREAT to be back in the saddle!

Gonna try to get a few miles in this afternoon...

Yep, that's one ride I'll never forget. Didn't get to see the wonderful sights of the Gorge trying to keep the bike and trailer ON the narrow road.
Good to hear you're back in the saddle again and have parked the ole Walkerie.
