Thus,  he could never be President
He was arguably Washington's closest confidant both during the Revolutionary War rising from artillary officer to high offices and after becoming our first cabinet officer.  Next to John Jay (our first chief justice) he was involved in great debates on our future including the Federalist Papers that made the case for the strong central government of the present Constitution.

Unfortunately when it does come out it will be met with a slight shrug and a "well there's nothing we can do about it now"  or a fauxahontus explanation, "well, that's what my family told me"

When we quit teaching history in our schools we forgot what this country was all about.
