It was hard to let her go ,  30K miles of fun   ,   was the only bike I ever customized  , had $17K in her.
Got $7K  , took 3 weeks  and I  may of gotten a little more if I had waited  longer .

I have a BMS saddle  for sale , in perfect condition  , all leather  .
Paid $900  , sell for $450 and I'll split shipping
https://www.billmayer-saddles.com/

Send email to   dromme2@gmail.com for a return  email with photos

Thanks

2008 GX 470 Lexus  ,lol
It's time to give it up , been riding for 50 years , started when I was 12  or so.

There's been 2 bike wreaks  in the  past 30 days, they died  , knew them both , one was on a older Valk  .
Just coincidence  I am selling as that    happened  .
Got really old and boring for me   .      Maybe in a year or 2 ,I'll   get something with 3 wheels for a short time .

Also , there are 3  people in my  circle of friends that have had bikes wreaks  in the past 10 years , were wearing helmets , they  hit their heads  as you would expect ,   they are not the same person .They are different people , messed up emotionally   or something worse .
I do not want to put my wife through anything like that , would not be fair to her .

The white paint , the big lights helped , still a motorcycle , difficult to see  , plus , the traffic has grown  , gotten  much worse   thanks to over selling  Sedona , the town gets 3 million visitors a year, a town of 10K

Kidd, I understand your logic. I also have been riding 50+ years, and  thank god- I have only been down once. In 1978, I hit a small dear. I guess I am lucky in some respects- living in upstate New York, Don't have the traffic like you. The trade-off is only an 8 month riding season. I wish you well.

Kidd, I have nearly 20 years on you and still ride as often as weather allows(rainy season now in Fla.) The last few years I haven't been able to ride as much since I was my wife's caregiver 24/7 but that has recently changed. At the moment I'm working on a hitch for the Valk and building a one-wheel trailer, all in preparation for touring next year. As for traffic, I guarantee the traffic in Orlando is second to none. I've lived here over 52 years and destinations that took 20 min. in the past now will easily spoil an hour.

PS: It's "seat for sale"..... Wink

I called it quits this year, too. Haven't been riding quite as long as you, but riding has definitely become more of a chore for me for most of the last 10 years or so. I kept replacing bikes thinking it was the bike, but it was me. I sold my Valk last month, and while I was sad the first day it was gone, I can't say I miss it now. I really thought I'd be riding long past now, but the love for it is just gone. And I can't deny there's a little bit of a fear factor creeping in as I rack up the years, too. I crashed my previous bike a few years ago, and the body just can't withstand that kind of abuse like it used to. Not much more to say, but you're definitely not alone. I kept my gear and leave open the possibility of maybe getting a scooter or something down the road if the itch ever returns, but right now I don't see it happening.

Also , the margin of error  is so small  for us bike riders  , the 2 deaths   I wrote about   were all alone .
They did it to themselves  , no other vehicles  involved

Seat still available , still for sale

Hey Kidd..just sayin, my step dad is 88, just sold his 14 Valk and now rides a 800 Suzuki V-twin.  Survived cancer twice, knee operation, head trauma (fell in shower)..rides his 800 often!

I hear what you're saying though...  Been riding since like 1973..as a kid, dirt bikes, enduro, Motocross...etc...first real street bike in 1983.  Have had friends die in wrecks....and up here their happening more often as the population builds.  What I have adopted as a more survival strategy is to apply the laws of probability to my rides.  First I ride the F AWAY from cars..PERIOD.... I go north and west, or south and west...  I ride deep into the country...especially in Wisconsin in where I see no cars or very few...I stay off the interstates and heavily traveled hwys...  I find back country roads and use the Sun or my old ladies GPS to navigate...  I'm very confident in my abilities to ride..very, but I ALSO know I can make a mistake too and wipe out in a moment's notice.  My mentality is that I am thinking this could be my last ride...PAY THE F ATTENTION...  I've slowed down too....not that I rode like a maniac...but as a former dirt rider, your always testing your skills...  I love the curves (including women..lol) but ride them now more cautiously...  I've had several very close calls...  they would have killed me HANDS DOWN...but luck was on my side....

I don't ride after dark...I don't ride early in morn, or right after sunset...the deer are ridicules up here...  Yes, it has gotten far more dangerous to ride... more cars, distracted drivers, wildlife losing their habitat to the urban sprawl....  I could go on and on...

But I still love riding...but I minimize it...knowing that every time I throw a leg over the saddle disastor can happen...

But then I ask myself; is it better to die on a bike...grinning and having a blast before being blown away...  or is it better to die (like many of us)..in hospital bed rotting from cancer...hospitals draining our bank accounts stealing all the money away from our family..hmmmmm
