Chalk up another fatality to the forest rats!

Local rider was T-boned by a deer on scenic Hwy. 68 in the Grassy Cove area heading into Crossville, TN. The 75 year old rider was killed as a result when the deer charged in from the left side causing the crash.
A beautiful little winding valley road to ride through with mountains full of deer on both sides.

Nothing in the news report about the fate of the deer, just that the rider was wearing a helmet and no drugs or alcohol involved??? My guess the deer got off scott free since it did the running over, but I'll have to rely on small town gossip thirty or fortysecound hand when it finally makes it round. It was getting dusky dark on a clear evening when the incident occurred, from what I hear.

These things happen sooooo fast.   He probably didnt even see the deer coming.  Bless his heart....and his family.   I'm sure they are devastated.

75 y.o. rider was a county jailer and animal control officer at least in recent past. Traveling on 2003 H.D. and appears the deer just knocked the bike over and the guy spilling into the road.

Driving up to and back from Columbus last Sunday (from Cincinnati) I saw no less that six dead ones on the road.  I was in a car but had made the same trip Thursday before on the bike.  Spooky how they just are "there."

I'm not a hunter, simply because I've seen enough, and don't want to process the dam thing.
I'll be glad to get a tag and let my friends do the processing and have the meat.
Its a wonder I'm not more popular in November.

I see about that many dead in the 20 miles stretch to/from work daily laying alongside the road.  I take county backroads to work less traffic and seems like near every day I see 3-5 of them laying dead or crossing road daily, not good.  Lucky only hit 1 so far last year in now 30+ years of driving with near new truck, not sure a cycle would survive if hitting a deer.  Some look like hit by a semi not much left but dark spots on the road and carcass parts scattered
