Most of you know or have heard of Grumpy.
Some of you are running his exhaust tips on your bikes.
Even more have had your Phat Gurls repaired or modified by him.
Grumpy is in the hospital in Tampa with a tumor in his stomach.
He has been in there several days now and will will have an operation on Tuesday. He will have more definitive news on the tumor on Monday prior to the procedure.
The operation will most likely take a good portion of his stomach and it is high up, closer to his esophagus as well.
To date he has now had a total of 6 blood transfusions.
Grumpy has had his share of mishaps lately with foot and ankle damage and just a few weeks ago some pretty serious hand damage due to an accident in his garage.
He is and always has been one of the "good guys". A true "Man's Man". A jack of all trades and the caliber of his work speaks volumes about who he is and the talent he has earned along his path.
Right now he could use our collective thoughts and prayers.
Please keep him in your prayers.....

As of today Grumpy has now had 10 units of blood and 6 plasma.
Doctors are trying to fortify him as much as possible prior to his surgery.
He is in decent spirits as far as I can tell and appreciates the prayers and good wishes everyone has sent.
More information as I receive it.
Thanks and keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Update - More and more blood.
Grumpy is convinced the hospital is run by Vampires........

He will be prepped tomorrow around 6AM for an early morning procedure.
He said he does not like the odds the doctors are giving him due to the issue itself and his age.
I have a good feeling and hope to be right. He is a strong man.
Will be in touch with his wife somewhere around Noon for an update on him

Prayers tonight and tomorrow, keep him in your thoughts!

UPDATE -
Grumpy made it through surgery!!
Surgery was a lot longer than expected and he is weak but kicking.
The tumor was indeed cancer. No other details on that yet.
The surgeons had to remove his entire stomach. He is in for a long recovery.
He will apparently be remaining at the hospital for the next  10-12 days. Doctors say they will be trying to get him up and walking in 2 days.
Although extremely uncomfortable and immobile and weak his wife handed the phone to him and I was able to hear his voice. He sounded weak but upbeat. Not bad for someone who has gone through what he just did.
Keep the prayers coming as he is far from out of the woods yet.
He said he is very grateful for everyone and their best wishes and prayers for him and thanks to all.

Excellent to hear! And one can actually get along pretty well without a stomach, believe it or not... Mine was disconnected 5 years ago, and I've met others who've had theirs fully removed, so it's not quite as horrid as it sounds, although he DOES have a long road ahead of him!

Hoping for the best, and thanks for the updates!

Good to hear of the success.  Scary to hear of the cancer.

Could someone knowledgeable explain what living without a stomach means?

Could someone knowledgeable explain what living without a stomach means?

For a while, IV nutrients, then up to clear liquids, over time soft foods, and over a lot of time can get back to most regular foods.

He will lose a lot of weight.

But he'll still be able to eat, just not as much, and some things might cause him issues.

Five years out there's nothing I can't eat, but it's taken a lot of time for my body to re-adjust and adapt, but the body is an incredible machine, and can overcome a lot of things.

7/10 - Update

Grumpy had one Hell of a night last night. Pain was so bad they did a spinal epidural block on him to try and get it in check. He also had at least one on-demand pump to further try to keep the pain in check. By his own words.... "I was on some heavy-duty drugs"
Hoping the good Lord gives him a better night tonight.
He is far from out of the woods so please keep him in your continued thoughts and prayers and...thank you!
