7/11 - Update
Another rough night for him last night. Seemed to be in decent spirits today. Rough day for him today as well. As they said they would they got Grumpy sitting up in a chair. Also today, as they said, they got him walking. He said he was able to walk about 100 feet total. To me that is pretty darned impressive 48 hours after a pretty rough surgery. Thanks to all for your continued support, thoughts, and prayers. Keep them coming. Will keep you in the loop.

Grumpy has had a dye test to see if there are any leaks and they found none! This is a very important milestone for him At this point he has probably had water as well. They are making him walk and sit upright every day now. The doctors are happy enough with his progress that they are thinking about letting him go home on Monday but not without full time nursing care at home. In his own words " It beats the heck out of staying here" He is an amazing man and beat the odds to get where he is. Please continue your thoughts and prayers for a continued and full recovery and...thank you!!

Best laid plans of mice and men..... Grumpy will not be getting out of the hospital. Doctors decided he still needs IV drugs that cannot be administered at home. Soooooooo...... He will enter a rehab facility instead and be there for around a week or so before being evaluated for the next step. Told Anna to tell him "Hey, at least you are alive to go into Rehab.....quitcha' bitchin' !! As always please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

7/16 - Update.
Grumpy has been transferred to a rehab facility and is already not too happy about it. Where the hospital was already starting him on "light meals" the rehab has reversed course and taken him back to liquid, delivered solely through tubes. Grumpy suffered zero damage to his throat and was receiving no treatment for the above. The rehab facility has decided he has suffered throat damage and wants to start him on Speech therapy. See a trend here? Medicare will provide 21 days of payments toward a rehab facility. That statement should help clarify. Have let him know that his doctors can dictate what the rehab is to do and what they are not to do. He is frustrated and feels like as hard as he has tried and pushed that he is going backwards at this point. As if it has not been tough enough for him already. He is tough and will get answers am sure. In the meantime keep praying for him. Am a firm believer our prayers have helped him along the way. Thank each and every one of you for that.

He has gotten with his Humana rep., his doctors, and the staff there and I guess the tide has turned back in his favor. He is back on track now to leave the rehab facility as early as Monday. He seems in good spirits except that he simply does not want to be where he is....guess that's a good thing! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. He is a long way from normal still. Thanks! ... to each and every one of you.

He can leave rehab at any time on his own. If he has help at home that os all he needs. Rehabs will hold you as long as possible just to milk the insurance.

7/22 - Update
It's official !! Grumpy has paperwork in hand for his release from the rehab facility and back to the house! Wednesday morning at 9AM ! Celebration will be short lived however as he has several doctor appointments scheduled for Wed. and Thurs. already. He will still be primarily fed through a tube for a few weeks but combined with some "normal" food to go along with. Mainly light stuff for a while. Main thing is that he is on the road to recovery!! This will be my last post or update on Grumpy as he will be able to take over on Wednesday and supply updates on his progress. Thanks again to each and every single one of you that prayed for him and kept him in your thoughts during his battle for life and during his recovery process. Thanks to God above for listening to and answering our prayers!

I wish to sincerely thank each and everyone for your prayers and thoughts, they have worked as I am still here. Just released from out patient health care this morning, still have a ways to go as still being tube fed for another few weeks. But at least I am alive. It was very close to death for me, the tumor was causing extensive internal bleeding, the first few days I received 12 pints whole blood and 6 units of plasma to get me where they could operate on me with out killing me. I have had my stomach removed as the tumor had taken all of it over. So now I have a gastric bypass, using part of my small intestine for a stomach. Doc says I will be close to normal in a month or so, only change may be eating smaller meals several times a day. As to the prayers they worked, I was given a 30% to 40% chance of surviving the operation, not good odds. After it was over the surgeon informed me I came through like a much younger person with no complications. He was amazed at how I tolerated the process.
Once again thank you very much, amazed at how many responded.

Hey Bill
Glad to see you're back home. Ain't nothing as beneficial as your own roost!
Didn't know the odds were against your survival initially, but as you said, the doc was impressed as to how well you came through it. Like the saying goes (something like this) old age and treachery will overcome youth and skill.
Now that you're set up with a gastric bypass, you'll be a slim, trim, lean machine in no time, making us old dudes look bad by comparison.
Great news on your recovery, enjoy your home, your wife and good fortune!

http://drday.com/tumor.htm#rumorshttp://drday.com/doctors_cannont_cure_cancer.htm#sick "But they were wrong!" says Lorraine Day M.D. She was diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and had a lumpectomy of a small tumor. But the tumor soon recurred, became very aggressive and grew rapidly. Yet Dr. Day rejected standard therapies because of their destructive side effects and because those therapies often lead to death. She chose instead to rebuild her immune system using the natural, simple inexpensive therapies designed by God and available to everyone, so her body could heal itself. In her two videos, You Can't Improve on God and Cancer Doesn't Scare Me Anymore, Dr. Day explains why you don't have to accept a death sentence from your doctor and how this plan has been used successfully by many patients with different types of life-threatening diseases to regain their health. plenty of alternative treatments that remove cancer and cure you. presently I using IV vitamin C therapy. The tumor in my head has reduced in size due to the treatment, certain supplements and prayer, the ultimate healer Jesus.
