I have made and installed a replacement side cover for my Valkyrie IS. It's made from a small sheet of aluminum, bent to fit at the correct angle, Painted gloss black and trimmed with black automobile door edging all around. I do not understand how to attach a photo of the finished cover on this website. However, if anyone is interested, I can send photos, the pattern for cutting the metal and various tips for mounting using M6 alltread rod. It actually is very solidly mounted and looks pretty good. I invested about $10 in the project compared to $238 for a new cover.
