The only thing that makes this Valkyrie related is that it was a perfect day to ride but I spent seven hours finishing a bed. We have a friend with a special needs son and the kid designed this bed. He had planned on building it himself but he designed it right out of his ability.

So this is it and it’s only my second bed that I have built.

Yes he even picked the color.

Mattress sits on top?

If so you might need a safety rail each long side to stop roll offs.

Well. if you're going to do something else on a perfectly good riding day, this is a pretty cool thing to do. Looks great, and especially building it to the kid's own design...he must feel pretty good about that cooldude

The Mrs has been after me for a couple of years now to build a NICE combination boot storage/seat for the garage where we always come in and throw off our MC, hiking, and fishing boots before entering the house. The qualification that it has to be NICE has had me stumped to date...if for some reason you every find yourself heading up this way, I do have a collection of lightly used carpentry tools Wink

Jeff,

Another good story with a happy ending! I like the look of it, and it appears highly functional. I really like it most of all, however, because the special needs kid designed it himself... and you were able to recreate his vision and make it happen!!! Well done... Now you need to 'add the cherry on top' and go for a well-deserved ride!

You know, many of us get to an age where we return to childhood, like slipping down the stairs (in my sox on carpeted stairs).  I still know how to fall without killing myself, but not falling at all is the better goal.  And I grew up in house with a long tall stairway in old polished wood, and fell on those many times, and got big nasty splinters in my feet too.  My dad broke two ribs on the same stairs.  So we write about our life's experiences.   Smiley

Glad to help from the cheap seats.   Grin

I fell on my bells.

All delivered. It wasn’t a thin mattress at all. The dude says he has big pillows that keeps him from rolling out. I suggested he get some bed rails but he seemed like he didn’t want that. Fall out of this bed and he may change his mind. But it looks good

Bruce. I got the cherry on top today. Met a couple guys from our group for breakfast. An early start, but thankful it wasn’t as cold as the last few mornings.   After a first class breakfast I rode with Keith (Farside) to his assigned duty for the day as a Christmas tree salesman.   Then over to visit another VRCC member. One of my bikes I work on regularly. Then home. Only 100 mile day but it was fun and it was on a Valkyrie.

Shocked Jeff, that is one fine looking bed. I'd of loved to of had something like that in my room. That young man has good vision on his design and you did a fine job creating for him. Didn't you say "Pepsi Blue" smitten You may start getting orders for this bed,  Wink
You did have a good day ridding which would of been nice if I could of been out with you but our Optimist Club Christmas Tree fund raiser is our #1 money maker. We sold out today, all 500 trees in 8 days. The local kids programs will get there funds next year again going now for over 50 years.  smitten
