Quote
On Tuesday, Sheen, 54, shared a touching tribute to [Philip] McKeon on Twitter, calling him a “gentleman” and an “ebullient spirit.”

ebullient [ ih-buhl-yuh nt, ih-boo l- ] adjective

1 overflowing with fervor, enthusiasm, or excitement; high-spirited:
The award winner was in an ebullient mood at the dinner in her honor.

2 bubbling up like a boiling liquid.

While we're at it, a number of years ago I enjoyed discovering another word, this time in, of all places, Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs:
Quote
"Duty is duty, John, and no amount of sophistries may change it. I would be a poor wife for an English lord were I to be responsible for his shirking a plain duty. I realize the danger which must follow, but I can face it with you."

sophistry [ sof-uh-stree ] noun, plural soph·ist·ries.

1 a subtle, tricky, superficially plausible, but generally fallacious method of reasoning.

2 a false argument; sophism.

It's not obvious to me; which word in that citation expanded your vocabulary?

I’d heard the term ebullient before. But I don’t think I’m familiar with sophistry.

I haven't looked it up, but "sophistries" may have been a hapax legomenon in Burrough's work.

Sophism refers to the argumentative strategies practiced and taught by the Sophists.   Grin

The use of fallacious arguments, especially with the intention of deceiving.   Angry

The most skillful and most numerous practitioners of sophistry may be found in journalism and politics.

Members of congress may be the magna cum laude of sophistry.

A more commonly understood term for a sophist, is an artful bullsh!tter.

Thanks for further expanding my vocabulary!  I'm not sure how long it will be before I'll be able to use the term hapax legomenon , but I hope I can before I completely forget it.

As Tarzan of the Apes is public domain and available to be searched online, I can confirm that sophistries is, in fact, a hapax legomenon in that book.  I have no idea if he used it in his other works, even though I have read the vast majority of them over the years, most of them as a boy.
