I've never heard of it.   You call it polish, but isn't it sold as a protective-sealant (for wheels you've already polished?)

Shark hide is a sealant mainly used on aluminum surfaces and very well regarded in the marine industry. Pontoon tubes can be coated with them and marine growth is minimized. Inboard propellers can also be coated and when marine growth builds up on the blade surfaces it is almost immediately thrown off by spinning up the prop so it does have it's uses.
It is, however, fairly soft and not immune to things like brake fluid or gasoline. If damaged by a chemical the whole wheel would have to be stripped and re-coated.

I read up on it and it can be removed with Lacquer thinner. It seals the metal to keep the metal from oxidation. The instructions state to polish the aluminum then clean the rim with lacquer thinner to remove all the polishing compound, Then the sealer is to be applied with a cloth and dries in minutes. It is not effected by road salts and other chemicals plus it is supposed to last up to 2 years. A bit expensive, I’ve seen it on pontoons and aluminum diamond plate with great resorts.
I was going to try it on my rims, when I put the new tire on it.
Check it out on YouTube.

Don't have to.....You asked for anyone with experience with Shark Hide.
We have had several pontoons at the shop with SH on them.
They are definitely affected by simple gasoline. They discolor immediately.
Not sure what other chemicals will do but gas is fairly mild.
I have experience with it and you have YouTube. You choose!  cooldude
