Not a lot left to say anyway, it has already dissolved down to the lowest common denominator, Trump is a SOB but for most of us he’s our SOB.

Meathead,

Just a question. Are you trying to change anyone's stance on DT with your posts??

I believe we all understand your thoughts and feelings on the subject.

Yes he’s our SOB. One doesn’t spend all the years he did living and working in construction in NY/NJ and not run into and have to deal with politicians behind closed doors, political push back as well as “those who run” the construction unions, waste disposal union, service unions and any other individuals of “questionable” reputations...wink wink, that apply pressure and influence positive or negative depending on cooperation or not. I’m sure he knows the real meaning of being squeezed which is why these politicians against him can’t shake him.

Nope, Serk asked a question of the “left”. I figured he wanted an honest answer. (Continue on with the circle, gentleman)

Do you not get tired trying to prove in some fashion that the DNC is doing the right thing? Their failed efforts dont make you look at your own beliefs in their system??? And loyalty??

Now that’s confusing because you recently indicated that you don’t speak for the left. Of course the left often changes positions as the need arises.

DNC ? I don’t remember trying to stick up for them. As to loyalty, I certainly have none towards them or the Democratic Party. I think you might be reading something into what I have said.

Wrong again my friend. I can not, nor will I try to speak for the “left”. Serk asked a question of our “left leaning members” (or something to that effect). Being that most members that lean left stay out of the political discussions here, I figured his question was towards baldo and I.

Aside from the partisan process of this situation one thing that’s been bothering me are the 3 Senators who will vote on this issue are directly running against the President in this election. I know they took an oath to be impartial but it’s difficult to believe human nature will not play a biased opinion in their decision, given the opportunity who wouldn’t vote against a political rival. If everyone is so concerned about public opinion as well as public perception of the process and proceedings those 3 Senators should abstain when it’s their time to vote.

Are you serious? After all the public declarations from the right, that they had no intention of being impartial jurors? LOL

Which Republican Senators are running against the President in this election?

One of the articles focused on election interference, voting to remove a political rival from office as well as remove him from the upcoming election ballot couldn’t be more obvious of election interference.

I would have much rather this whole process have been heavily bipartisan. Public perception as is very important IMO, but the Democrats had to push through strictly on their own even though years of their screaming for impeachment were public/common knowledge.

I, too, would have preferred some bipartisan response during this whole procedure. But they're all so afraid of being primaried or attacked they sat on their hands and kept silent. Several have made noises about how wrong his behavior has been, but they wouldn't even vote to have witnesses to allow him a chance to prove his innocence. I know your concern is about an election, but it's all part of the same problem.

It's almost amusing listening to the left leaners' concerns over the possibility of impartiality in the Senate after that completely one sided circus in the House.

The rules require a super majority for conviction in the Senate for a good reason.  My opinion is the same should be required for an impeachment in the House.

I completely agree - not only for conviction, but for the accusation for impeachment it should be a super majority (2/3) and should have had bipartisian support to be even remotely reasonable. If the House investigation would have actually found something worth impeaching about , and taken the time to do the subpeaonas  / court work to hear the people the President was blocking - they might have had a chance - or at least been taken more seriously. This was strictly a partisian attack to try to weaken Trump for the 2020 election - which should fail miserably.

I hope with what I’m about to say we can find some common ground. If the impeachment rhetoric hadn’t begun so soon as well as seemingly a daily rallying cry from those like Maxine Waters and others as well as media folks this issue may have had a different look to it.

IMO if this situation had come out in 2017 - early 2018, with the still lingering (which I believe bipartisan) disbelief and dislike of a non political, inexperienced political person like Donald Trump could/did win the election removal may have been a more realistic possibility. The 3+ year long call for impeachment has been the equivalent of Crying Wolf which brought partisan disdain to the forefront for the public to see/hear and be inundated with on a daily basis and it’s been all for naught.

The founders worried about the congress just using impeachment as a tool to get rid of a President, just because they did not like him and expressed their feelings in The Federalist Papers.  At that time there were not political parties that are mostly subservient to themselves and George Washington talked of this after they formed, and quickly during his terms, during his fare well address.  Had they known about the destruction that political parties could cause, I would think they would have made it also a super majority for articles of impeachment in the house, and spare us the utter nonsense we have witnessed for the past several months.   This could be rectified with an amendment that might stand a good chance of passing.

That is for sure well wishes but the facts are, they did start the impeachment yelling from the git go so that makes what the real issue? The treasonous Dems not Trump. Yet they still whine and still want to get rid of Trump. When will we be working on getting rid of the real issue? Is your common ground to get rid of some Dems?

Wow!  Just wow!  the willingness to believe what has been sown to be false is almost unbelievable.

It does make somewhat understandable the inclination of many to accept any accusation against the hated one as truth.  This logical disorder is widespread enough to indicate we are on the verge of losing any sense national kinship.  Are we on the verge of America's collapse?  I'm sure that many of the citizens of the U.S.S.R. didn't believe the world's second most powerful force could collapse.

TDS stays strong in this mad old bird.

▪️ NANCY PELOSI: "He will not be acquitted. You cannot be acquitted if you don't have a trial."

▪️ ALAN DERSHOWITZ (a Democrat, Constitutional scholar and Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus; Harvard Law School) "Nancy Pelosi doesn't understand what impeachment is. What she has said, is even if the president's acquitted, the impeachment stands. NO! That's like saying, that if a person is indicted and the jury acquits 12 to nothing in five minutes, he's still indicted.

NO! The impeachment disappears."

One of the items the Dems were hanging their collective hats on was the withholding of aid to the Ukrain, even though it was given later. I recently did a comparison of funds release dates and found those dates over the last 4-5 years was right in line with the date of the funds release last fall. Strange that the media never gave out that info, wonder how many minds would have been changed on just that alone.

Rob, you're wasting your time and energy on these guys.

I wonder what their take would be if the players were reversed. If any Dem had done the same thing, how would they react?

There's a WORLD of difference between "We heard something untoward happened, let's investigate it." and "We don't like this man, keep investigating until we can find SOMETHING to throw at him."

We are fully and deeply into the 2nd scenario.

And in that scenario, the whole process is a sham, and should be treated with disdain by all honorable folks.
Seeking foreign help from the Russians, the Chinese, the Ukrainians does not qualify as a “witch hunt” in my book.

Honorable people should stand up and do their job.

Rob, you're wasting your time and energy on these guys.

I wonder what their take would be if the players were reversed. If any Dem had done the same thing, how would they react?
In about 3 minutes I suspect. And with much vitriol.

What if even before the Ukrainian incident the Democrats were filing false documents with the fisa court to be able to launch an illegal investigation that would let them go where ever they wanted to dig and do it in a secret fashion. I find that much more disturbing than anything Trump has been accused of. Apparently neither you you share my view of the criminal behavior of your righteous party.

John, it was the FBI who applied for FISA warrants. Perhaps some reading on the subject is in order ?

John, when you blame Democrats for filing false FISA warrants, it makes it appear you haven’t paid attention, or you don’t care. If it comes off as condescending, I apologize.

I hope with what I’m about to say we can find some common ground. If the impeachment rhetoric hadn’t begun so soon as well as seemingly a daily rallying cry from those like Maxine Waters and others as well as media folks this issue may have had a different look to it.

My common ground right now is we get past this insanity. The Democrats have played this to the “N”th degree and come up empty. They had a storyline and stuck with it to the end. They (IMO) saw what little they had as far as evidence, knew they had to spend too much time in the House committee for everything to be investigated. Under Schiff they took it as far as they could for it to seem a “reasonable” timeframe before the election and shove it all on the Senate to continue the investigatory process, hence tying up the Senate for months probably. Bolton’s book hasn’t been mentioned since last week...surprise that’s all swept away and forgotten.

Schiff had theory and had to stick with it. He had to save face this time because the call for impeachment has gone on far too long.

The House wants to impeach along partisan lines and the Senate will acquit along partisan lines. This whole thing is insanity in the making for the future. It’s time for everyone to cut the crap and do real work for the country and we the people.

Partisan impeachment is bad. Impeachment with lard bipartisan support is important.

u have to be blind and deaf or just willingly ignore facts to fit your beliefs. main thing is that you cannot admit that you are wrong.  It was democrats!!! plan and simple.

The false information was funded by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the campaign for Hillary Clinton, but officials never told the FISA court that it was political opposition research.  The nonprofit Campaign Legal Center (CLC) has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) alleging both the Clinton campaign and the DNC violated campaign finance law by failing to accurately disclose payments for the dossier.

In other words, the genesis of the Russia collusion investigation came from false information paid for by President Donald Trump’s political opposition. The memo specifically names former FBI Director James Comey, who signed 3 of the warrants; Sally Yates, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, as well as the just ousted FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.

I love Rand Paul so much.... Not quite up to the high standards of his father, but doing pretty well....

Nice explanation of what happened, who did it, the FISA scam, etc:
