But..........
All you Trump Haters? Never Trumpers?
I fully expect each and every one of you to either tear up the check or send it back without cashing it!

When the thief that's had a gun to my head stealing 50%+ of my labor offers to give me a pittance of it back, I'd be a fool not to accept it...

Total BS. It needs to be in a form of plastic (no cash), for staples only small amount of gas and medical. There are those that feed off the government any way. They need nothing. There are those that contribute nothing to the country, get paid under the table and are not legal citizens. There will be some exceptions. I feel the states should take care of who gets what, they know there states people better then the feds do. For example Texas law makers  know what Texans can use and Nebraska law makers know what Nebraskans need. Big corporations need no hand outs, the airlines for example can get a loan from someone other then the tax payers. Some of these state governors are the biggest cry babies and BSers, NY you got the worst. They said it could be 3 weeks before checks could be out, this all may be over by then or darn near. Those that go on unemployment do they need a check.

While, I'm not sure I support this rebate from Uncle Sugar, I do understand the intent.

This money is to try and keep the economy from crashing (as in Emergency Economic Stimulus), not support those who won't/don't pull their own weight. We all know that millions of Americans are losing their jobs due to this virus. The loss of those jobs will bring this nation's economy down just like the stock market is tanking. There is a huge difference in "social entitlements" and the intent of this money.

My understanding of proposed corporate bail outs is that we (taxpayers) may become either full or co-owners of those corporations. Still thinking about that one.

I'm still wanting to know if "Illegal aliens" will benefit from this...……. Anyone know?

It was announced last night that all kids of school age (K through 12) or to the age of 18 will be allowed to go to any school (drive through) in Mississippi for a free breakfast and lunch.    Doesn't matter if the student attends that school or not so, I guess I just answered my own question.   Any illegal alien can get their kids free meals.

I got laid off from my job because we are not essential. For at least 2 weeks. I'm  lucky enought that i have money saved back that i will not hurt from this at all. I did sign up for unemployment just because i can. I'm  receiving  1/4 of my normal paycheck each week. There are guys i work with that count on every dime they make. What do you think this is going to do to them? The way i understand it is that only those that filed taxes last year will get money. I agree these huge corporations do not need to be bailed out. Yhey will only use the money to buy their own stocks and make the CEOs filthy rich.

That stock buyback is one of the things Trump spoke about in a town hall meeting that he wanted to make sure did not happen. He tried to put that in writing but who knows. When the Democrats got done with it who knows? I know that Trumps companies are barred from getting any of it and he agreed to that. Makes me wonder where we would be if we had just shut down all media for 30 days about a month ago.

Yeah that's a little crazy. I would say 100% of your salary is good enough.  Even 90% would be good enough for most people.

Got laid off from my part time job March 13. Start work again April 14 (the plan at this time). Did not sign up for unemployment. Can carry myself for this month.

If I don't sign up will I still get some of the taxpayer money coming to me in the mail?

I wont be eligible for the check (the last I read) and if I was it would not be cashed or deposited. It would be marked return to sender.

That is why I said there would be some exceptions. If you file a tax return and work you are entitled to what ever they give. I am still not thrilled about the cash give out. Plastic  for utilities, staples and family needs. Hope they can get something set up for the working man not the crap the Dems. want.

All I'm gonna say is, my bet is, this un-earned income will be taxed accordingly next tax season.
If, I get a check, it'll go into my savings so it'll still be there when they want it back.

we are (or should I say me) pretty tight with our money will not blow it on vacation or something too much extravagant probably just put it in the bank for a rainy day since never know when both of us will be fired?   Cry

Much of the pork was still in the bill the Senate passed.  Pork filled bills should be unconstitutional.  Every proposed bit of legislation should be decided on its own.  Not just now, but always!  Our government is just plain dysfunctional.

who is to say if this virus lasts thru August and probably longer and excalates to 100K or more dying running wild that then for sure layoffs and companies will close and this 2400 married money is a drop in the bucket for most trying to find another job.  good luck on that Cry

like said prior,  most of us can endure 1 month or so off work not getting a paycheck, but 3-5 months or longer if not finding another job,   not many.

whomever thinks sending that check back marking it return to sender is not thinking long term of what 'could' happen still.   Now if retired and getting piddly fixed income on social security, etc.,  and can make due without it,  fine, but for those still working next 10-20 years that 2400 married is a drop in the bucket chump change long term especially if no job to go back to.

I guess I am pessimistic person thinking the worst of what 'could' still happen?   Sad

Desperate need to have and apply line item veto.

There might be an alternative, though not probable but still possible.

The allocated money has to be actually spent.  That requires someone to purchase something.  This requires bids, ect.

This could be postponed such that the money is not really spent.

I know not probable but it still could happen.
