If you want to live in a crime free society, it can be as simple as you suggest- Learn by watching others.  Iran, China, and N. Korea have virtually no gun violence.  They have outlawed all private firearm ownership.  There is little opposition to the government.  If you are suspected of being anti-government, you are simply whisked away never to be seen again.  No one dares to commit a crime, even in the privacy of their own home…  Homes are subject to unannounced inspections at any time.  Yes, you CAN live in a crime free society…  Just get rid of that pesky Constitution and those crime enabling amendments called The Bill of Rights.  Our Founders believed that most people are honest and want self determination without heavy government control.  Unfortunately, with that level of freedom comes the ability for a few to cheat the system.  Ask yourself this-  Do you want to give the government more power and reduce our freedoms so that this over inflated scenario cannot happen?

So your answer is to make everything legal so the Government is not controlling in any way? A comparison of the border crossing enforcement, nothing more. Not sure how it degraded into the rest. If just comparing the border issue, I'd like to see our gov't. come down hard on that...but you know it never will regardless of party affiliation.

Oh well, guess I'll go do something constructive and iron a shirt for tomorrow. Going to join my old office mates in their annual Christmas luncheon, should be fun since I've not been back for the last couple years. I worked past 65 and been retired a few years since, I miss a small handful is all but still enjoy finding out just how things are going. It's a gov't. office so you know procedures have changed at least once a year in the last six.

You seem to be dancing around the the mention of Germany and England in bashfulbobs's original post. Are they included in the " draconian laws like you suggested they use in foreign communist or theocracy countries." Because your Pal Obama is proposing ALOT of policy not too different than that of those countries...except the enforcement of existing immigration law ! I guess it is OK to use their socialist ideas but the rest is communist trash ?
 If we should leave because we disagree with current administrations direction...why the hell didn't you leave when the election got stolen from crybaby Al Gore ?  It's not to late...you can go now in protest of those 8 years.

Actually, Vietnam goes back into the late 1940's.  We were sending our military advisors in there as early as 1956 (Eisenhower).  Troops were deployed in September 1959, before Kennedy was elected.  Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon all acellerated the conflict, unsuccessfully.
