I was just reading about nurses sitting in negative pressure rooms, intubating crashing virus patients, swabbing the noses of sick people, changing in and out of protective clothing and "marinating in risk"...
We have nurses on here... Robert (2tonevalk) is a nurse... I don't see him on here lately, he still comes to the Fall Color Ride on his Wing (his two tone valk got crashed)...
Anywho... Stay well all you nurses, and thanks!

No doubt about it ! They are the true warriors in this. I never thought much about nurses till my sister was in ICU a while back. I am convinced that they are angels sent here by God to help us.
They have my undying respect, honor, and devotion.

Nurses deal with stuff that’s most undesirable and on a more personal level. A few years ago my father-in-law was in the hospital, he has Alzheimer’s and was being a most difficult patient and giving the staff a real hard time by being verbally abusive and trying to fight with the staff as well. Well anyway to get back to my point, my wife and I had finished a snack in the cafeteria and she rushed back to his room to be sure he was behaving and I killed some time in the gift shop to find him something to keep him occupied and calm. While in there I saw small inexpensive angel pins and bought 6 and gave them to those who were attending to him. I explained to them it wasn’t a religious thing but more of a sign of appreciation and how I regarded them and the work they do. They all seemed appreciative and thankful for the recognition. Nurses...gotta love ‘em

I can't imagine the conditions in 3rd world country hospitals when there's an outbreak.

Yes there is a rare compassion that brings them back to the meat grinder day after day, even after breaking down from fatigue and sorrow at the end of their shifts. It's not glamor or riches that keeps them coming back, it's compassion and a the satisfaction of care giving. They are overflowing in medical knowledge, but leave the glamor to the doctors while they gladly work the bloody trenches. THEY ARE AS CLOSE TO ANGELS AS WE'LL SEE ON EARTH. God bless them!

Cheryl, who is G-man's better half, is a nurse. She in fact works in at least two hospitals.
Hope she and all of our health care warriors return safely after their shifts.
nice idea with the pins by the way

She was nurse of the year at St Barnabus Hospital a few years in a row, terrific gal

AMEN! to all already said! Hard to add anything, but... I agree they are very special people without whom this would be a very dismal world... Yes indeed! Those pins were a nice touch for sure...

My son is a Para-Medic, his wife (my DIL) is a ICU (Heart Dept) Nurse who's whole floor has now been converted into Heart/Coronavirus floor. Both deal with this Pandemic throughout their shifts. I pray for them and their co-workers continuously.
DIL has gone from 12 to 48 beds (all are full with more folks waiting to get in. The vast majority of runs my son goes on are COVID 19 related and even if they aren't, they are treated as that. One Para-Medic or EMT goes in with their moon suit on, evaluates the situation and then advises the crew on how the rest of the crew should treat the situation. They and the LEOs involved are some courageous souls. Thank God we have such people.

My hats go off to this profession. They are the real hero's of the hospitals.
My oldest SNL is a nurse by education, though thankfully is not doing it recently. He switched to IT part of the hospital, and can work from home. As he also has MS, his immune system is not as good as it should be.

My hat is also off to all nurses (really all medical professionals). I even married one once.
But I've run into some really tough old Sergeant Major type nurses who would brook no questions or discussion, and if you didn't do exactly what they said, they jammed the needle in extra hard.
