Last Saturday I took too many steps down off a step ladder. Landed on my left wrist and broke it. Surgeon said it isa bad break. Spent two days in hospital with way too many tests to keep track of. No riding for 1 to 2 months. I am bummed. My neighbors have stepped up big time.  Cry
UPDATE: PT has not gone well. Numbness in 4 fingers persists. Today I got scheduled for another surgery in July. My carpal tunnel needs to be released in the palm. If this doesn’t correct the issue, I may not ever be able pull a clutch lever. I tried yesterday with no luck. Wish me luck. Bummed!

Sandy I am sorry to hear that.

Sorrier still you had to go to a hospital at this time.  And now need to quarantine from all things breathing for awhile.

Sandy,

Dang, dude! Hate it for ya... Sorry to read of your being laid-up and off your Valk for so long... I hope that, like yours truly, you can find some comfort and a way to cope with all of this here in our electronic clubhouse. Bone breaks are never good at any age... for us seniors, however, they can be particularly bothersome. Oh well, facing and overcoming our setbacks is the next 'task-at-hand', and I do wish you the best of luck in that. We're all pulling for ya!

Sorry to hear about your fall and the wrist. Get well heal up quick and do the rehab they recommend and you’ll get some summer and the autumn season in.

Sorry to hear this. The first few days goes painfully slow then before you know it you’re in PT. Riding is PT also. Praying you don’t need surgery.

full riding season might not be over, only 2 months.   By my calculations thru mid June is NOT entire summer/fall riding season still have still 5 more months to ride July thru November.

Since is your left wrist,  a clutch is outta the question so get a scooter and let your left hand/wrist just rest on the handlebar, problem solved?   You only need your right wrist to twist the throttle on a scoot and can still stop and turn handlebars on most scoots easy enough using only right hand brake, throttle, turning.

Plus,  could have been much worse you could have broken your ankle or parts of leg vs. a wrist and is left wrist so if you are right handed, still can key and write.

Always trying to look on the bright side of things ya know ..   Wink

Dang, Sandy. That sucks ! We are not as young and limber as we once were. At least it will only be 110* by the time you can ride. Take care.  Smiley

Hey Sandy,

Let me know if you need an ortho doc??

Designed plates and screws for just those sorts of fractures.

PM if you need or want to discuss.

Wish you all the best on a seedy recovery.

Hang in there Sandy ! They are pretty good at those surgeries these days. I hope yours turns out well, and I see you riding to the Prescott BBQ.  cooldude
