Seneca got nuked by tornadoes last night, we have no damage,
and no power. Carolyn made cowboy coffee, I'm running the
wifi router with the chainsaw battery inverter. Soon I'll
whip open the fridge to get out some milk for cereal and
the bowl of fruit salad I made yesterday... 30,000 people
in the area have no power, 9 substations damaged. The
line of bad weather crossed the entire South, hope everyone
is OK...

Glad you escaped unscathed. Really tough for a lot of places. We had a lot of our folks in the line of fire, hope they all check in soon.

Just some high winds and heavy rain here in my little town near Newberry, SC.  Weather station reported a maximum gust of 33 MPH but its sort of shielded by some trees so, if it saw 33 MPH then it was probably over 50 MPH.

Got 1.3" of rain in less than two hours.

Lost power about 4:45 AM or so.  But the new emergency generator kicked in a few seconds later.  Second demand load test in less than a month.  Worked as expected.  No issues.  Power was restored about two hours later.  Did see the local (we are part of a small town's power system) Lineman drive down the road beside our house looking for the fault.  We are the last house on the line out this way so they start here.  Wonder if having some outside lights on (because of the generator) confused them.

If you are every curious about the weather where I live you can just click on the link below.  The data is updated from my weather station every 15 minutes.  Restarts each day at midnight.  If you scroll down you can see the rain and wind information.

`      I use NEXRAD a Lot. Can zero in on just about anywhere U S of A. Also has an animate feature. And dragging across the image magnifies. The magnify takes some gittin used too.
Anyone else here having issues with the Weather Channel app on their phone?  RIDE SAFE.

High winds for days, no tornadoes... but we now have a tornado watch.

Rained all night, and I could launch a boat in the backyard.

Debating pumping it out or letting it soak out.

Hope you get back power soon Mike.

Mike. If you don't know the Borg Warner plant is badly damaged.  Shocked

They have a catalyst plant just down the road, maybe that one?... it is near the
dump, I'll try to go there tomorrow...

Today I worked over at a neighbors house to cut a few things from the driveway
and screw some of the roof back down on their hay barn... but they have numerous
large oak trees down (the root balls tower over  your head). None fell on their house,
but there's damaged houses and downed power lines in the half mile between their
house and ours. We went out to the Interstate and got some coolers of ice.

We started a home renovation and addition a few months back and moved lock stock and barrel into my RV fifth wheel putting a lot into storage.  While tight space for continued living, we're making the best of it.   Then, last night occurred.   All I'm gonna say, ya don't need no stink'n radio in an RV to experience Rock and Roll.    2funny   Was an interesting evening, spent most of the night watching Wx Radar and on the Weather Channel.   Was a long night...   uglystupid2

you all can blame me,  today is my B-day the BIG 50!  cooldude

Is it just me or does the BIG 50 seem old like I should be getting senior citizen discounts soon?  When I turned age 40 thought nothing of it but have slowed down some since 10 years ago.   Sad  I was full of piss and vinegar, now not so much the vinegar...    Roll Eyes

kids in Eau Claire got 6 inches of snow overnight as well thought this crap was over with in March.  tickedoff

we just got rain and very strong sustained 35 mph winds down south 3 hours from them not going riding in 35 mph winds gusting higher in 40 degree temp no thanks.  coolsmiley

Well... this is about an 8th of a mile from Borg-Warner/The-Dump... there's
no power at the dump (of course) so it wasn't open. I took my three bags
to the dump in the next county, and I also got some more ice out at the
Interstate.

They've got the substations mostly back on line, maybe we'll have power in a
few days. I'm going into the office in Clemson tomorrow and recharge some
of these batteries we're using to have light and computers...
