Took my honey out for a Sunday putt into the countryside today.. we got about 40 miles down the road and had a flat rear tire, called AAA and got towed home. It's a beautiful day in San Diego and wind therapy was working wonders.. I'm done with the tire and want to go darkside.. what are my choices today, as in what's available now at a decent price? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I don't want to ride like this anymore Haha..

Losing a rear tire on a ride is a nightmare of mine. I'm thankful it was only an inconvenience, and not something far worse.....

Yes, luckily it didn't blow out, we were going around 50 mph on a 2 laner and I could feel the bike starting to go squirrely, pulling hard and slowing down.. Don't want to think about 80 mph on the freeway and having a blowout. So, can't wait to get the CT going, for some reason MC tires seem weak to me, I know it's only my perception, but our perception is our reality.

Car tires can be minimally weird to ride on (for a while), but they are very confidence inspiring to ride on. (I did get a nail in (a pretty new) one, and I'm still confidently riding on it two years later.)

That can be bad. I’m more scared of a front giving way.

That can be bad. I’m more scared of a front giving way. I've lost two rear tires at speed. Neither was an actual blowout, one was a very sudden deflation and resulted in much pucker factor. I've had the front go down on me while riding, twice as well. Both times were due to a leaking valve stem, Remember "Friends don't let Friends ride on OEM valve stems. Both of those times the front end just began to feel very heavy and slow to respond. I can imagine that a sudden deflation or blowout of a front tire would be catastrophic. Loosing the second rear tire prompted me to buy these: https://www.amazon.com/SYKIK-Wireless-Pressure-Monitoring-Motorcycles/dp/B0773SSQJY/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=SYKIK&qid=1590419066&s=automotive&sr=1-4

Yokohama Avid Envigor That is the next one going on mine, probably in the next couple of weeks. Several of us in here have this tire and like it. Nice looking tread pattern, quiet, good round edges.

I lost a front tire at 70 mph on highway 69 north of Auburn IN. OEM valve stem failed. Bike started shaking bad. I knew what was happening. Rolled throttle closed and applied rear brake only. Got to the shoulder and stopped. Wife dismounted, then me. Checked front tire. Flat and very hot. Called my step-son to bring my truck and trailer. Replaced the valve stems with bolt in type. Oh and replaced the tire as well. It was junk, especially after I rode the bike on that flat a mile to the next exit. Very scary...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I prefer the handling of my Zeetex CT-1000 195/65R16 LT tires to any I've ridden. Austone included. I'm running one on both bikes. https://simpletire.com/zeetex-lt195-65r16-1200032174-tiresI recommended it to baird4444. He must like it, I see he reviewed it! It's a great tire!

I blow out, right throw the cords, and one fast leak nail puncture, 2nd at 70mph with the wife on the back both times.
I spent the $65 for a wireless TPMS bolt on. Added them to all my (families) cars too, about $28 ea. Able to keep a better and easier eye on the tire pressure.
I picked up a good Aston, waiting to mount on the bike. I loved it on my GW. The size was 175/80-16, 26.9" dia . I would look for anything available with nicely rounded sides, about the same size as the Aston, rather then 205/65-16. Taller = lower rpm at speed, better fuel at your cruising speed, or faster mph at the same 3000 rpm.

Thanks gents for all the replies, just ordered the Zeetex!
Got back from Sedona yesterday and checked the tire today, the plug I installed earlier popped back inside the tire unfortunately.. I assume it's from the fairly thin rubber on the bottom (most worn) part of the tread. The tire had maybe 2000 mi left on it I'm guessing.
I re-plugged the tire to move the bike around but won't risk riding anywhere on it. My car radiator blew out on I-17 N coming out of Verde Valley Friday morning, took 5 hrs to get towed back to Oak Creek, luckily the O'reilly's there had one ready for pick-up and my late father had his tools in the garage to replace it, 2008 Towncar.. pain in the ass to replace the radiator but got it done and drove home without issue yesterday. The ABS had cracked at the upper hose neck.
These recent events really highlight the value of a AAA Premium membership with the RV add-on.
Thanks again for all the suggestions, this board and members are an awesome and valuable resource.

You'll like, it has fangs. My sweet spot is 42 psi, start there and see whatchya think. Keep us posted! That 195-65 does not require any choppin' of the nut cages, BTW.

Yes, keep us posted. I may go with the Zeetex for my next rear tire, after the glowing recommendation(s) from Valkorado. No need yet, so we'll see if it's still available when I do need one.

Good to know, I don't have patience to mess around.. too many things going on to tinker. I'll let you know how it goes, lookin forward to getting it going.
