As we were at Inzane this year....having gone out to eat several times with other Valksters....at age 50....I was the YOUNGEST if I'm not mistaken.....

I bought the Big Green Dragon in August of 2004 at the tender age of 34 with 29,000 miles and change on her......I've got 112,300ish now...those first few years I averaged 10-12K miles a year....lucky to get 3-4K these days......just turned 50 back in middle February....

Other than Serk's daughter and some young Lad that was a Grandson of some other riders, there were maybe a handful of other folks that may have been younger than me..not many ...maybe they were in their 20's-30's??....at least not at this year's Inzane......makes me wonder the same thing George Jones sang about a few years ago....

Who's gonna fill our shoes??..

Not just Valkyries (Although it's definitely happening here!) but motorcycling in general is losing favor with the younger crowd.....

We got a young lad was in my daughters high school graduating class of 23 kids total 4 years ago and he is pretty darn good.  My daughter made a speech during high school graduation part of the speech was that Andy needs to go to college first before becoming a rock star....

He performs local gigs mostly but has not hit it famous yet in Nashville or wherever the future rock/country/blues talents go to.  He plays a mean guitar, and other instruments like piano, etc. and a decent voice I think.

As far as future cycle riders,  with the cost of insurance on any cycle for someone under age 25 and the cost of cycles in general,  not too many kids nor parents have the means to afford such a luxury item.  I got my kid hooked age 16 on the 1997 honda magna me and the wife (in WARM chase car)  drove near 3 hours south to get it into IL.  We told him we were just going to look at it which from past 2 cycle buying experiences was thought to be true, but I ended up driving it home that COLD FRIGID NOVEMBER day right before the snow fell 3 years ago.   He was doing something so he could not go cannot remember what but me pulling up at 8 p.m. at night in the dark numb as all heck having to stop every 30 minutes to warm up was in the 30's and windy he was stunned in awe.  Got the first pic of him sitting on it that night in the garage while my totally numb fingers thawed from tingling.  He was sitting on it grinning from ear to ear too bad had to put it up for the winter months here in WI shortly thereafter but come March he put on 6000 miles on that thing 1st year had to get a new rear tire on it after 1 season.  That junior and senior year we drove the wheels of our cycles him always wanting to go after school or on weekends mostly local 100 mile and under rides.

Good story Cookie, sounds like you're still thawing out from that excursion.  Round these parts when you purchase a new bike you hook up the heated gear first.

If it gets that cold out much under 38 degrees of which at that time I had on 2 insulated gloves driving that far with NO windshield either,  it is time to pack up the cycles for the season snow will be flying soon after.   Doing 75 mph in the cold wind on interstate no windshield me being 285lbs. was a HUGE windblock me being the windshield darn near struggling to maintain forward body positioning pushing me back or side to side with high winds.

Those two young fellers are doing a pretty good job of filling some big shoes.  Talented young men for sure.
