Well I lied to you. I thought the one Nexgrill was 25 yrs old, its only 21.
All that needs to be done for the gas conversion is to drill the jet.

Robert,
I thought the NexGrill needed a new regulator but maybe thats just to accept the new hose connection to convert to natural gas.

I dropped by Home Depot today and I looked at both the NexGrill and the Weber. First, you have to be careful which Weber you get.
I looked inside several Webers that were similar in shape and they did not all have stainless steel "burner deflectors" (my term for the thing that goes on the burner tube to disperse the heat).
All had stainless steel burner tubes.
I think I like the idea of an enclosed area under the grill to minimize birds and bees and such building stuff in the otherwise open areas.

Dont need a regulator as long as you don't have 2psi pressure in your gas line. The grills at Home Depot are not all stainless in fact you have to make sure and specify all stainless. That was something you reminded me of when you posted. I looked as you did and found that unless the top was stainless not ceramic then the grill was either cast or ceramic. But if the top is stainless then usually the whole grill is but check to be sure that is why I posted the link for you to see the pictures of the grill and the price. I surely did not want the grates in anything but stainless and thick stainless at that. That is what I got in my all stainless grille, be careful you get what you want and do not settle.

Want to check for stainless, just have a small magnet in your pocket.

True but it wont tell you the grade, that is where some hold up better in grills.

Regarding natural gas, I think they increased the pressure (added a new regulator) when I had the Kohler generator installed.
I think it increased the pressure to 2 psi. I will have to check to see if an additional regulator was installed downstream of the T off to the generator. I know we did not make any other changes other appliances on the supply (heating, hot water heater, and grill).

More than likely you are correct but always nice to be sure I have been trying for awhile to get my service upgraded to 2 psi but to no avail.

I currently have a Nexgrill. Typical life of any grill for me is 7 years. Parts often cost more than a new grill. We grill 12 months out of the year, snow in the face and all. The important part for all the grills is the rotisserie burner since we cook whole birds, pork or beef loins and other large cuts on that. It is getting difficult to to find a grill with that burner.

I've always been lucky enough to spend a few extra bucks and get a Weber. My first one, a "red head", was on my deck for 17 years. If you keep them clean and replace rusted parts when necessary, they'll last forever. Parts are plentiful, the aftermarket stuff is as good or better than OEM. And quite a bit easier on the wallet.

I spoke with a Char-Broil rep yesterday regarding my request to return burner tubes and get the correct ones. (I had ordered two burner tubes to replace the rusted ones before I noted that the pins on the far end, away from the gas inlet to the tube, were rusted badly enough to have the pin break off or just have the hole pin mounting area rust through).
I was on the phone for 27 minutes. Took about 15 - 20 minutes of waiting to get a rep. He had the pictures of the issue and the tubes I received and, at the end of the conversation, he told me I had ordered the correct parts.
He said they would send me two new burner tubes but there would be a four to six week wait. And I did not have to send the old tubes back (cost of each tube was $12).
Anyway, just another reason not to by a Char-Broil.
