Willow Springs mo

« on: September 14, 2020, 02:21:02 PM »

Got up early made coffee cooked up some sausage and eggs then waited fer the fog ta lift. Finally rolled about 0930 and surprise surprise-needed the chaps and leather jacket But I took along the armored mesh. Fueled up in West Plains and rolled on U S 160 W. Stopped at Caulfield-bout 24 miles W of West plains-as it had warmed up enough to take off the leather. It was still overcast and the smoke smell was noticeable and some minor eye burn. Turned N onto Mo 125 at Rueter Mo. cuz I wanted to see if there was Any color yet. And as at least Willow is aware MO 125 IS a Very Interesting road. N of Bradleyville I became aware of fairly new chip seal But no loose stuff and they were starting to restripe the road surface. Just S of Sparta below where 125 crosses MO 14 In a farmers field I saw a Serious amount of R Vs tents and other stay in the field apparatus. And all different sizes of motocross M/Cs. When I stopped in Sparta one of the Guys who had been there said they had a bit over 1000 M/Cs registered for that weekend.  Shocked Got back onto 125 N to Rogersville turned E on U S 60 fueled in Mountain Grove Mo. and home. 215 miles and a M/C Ride High that I STILL have today!  cooldude Good Day In the wins. SmokinJoe hit Dat nail in da head!  2funny RIDE SAFE.

Mt Palomar in San Diego.. sat up there alone at the top for an hour listening to the breeze blow through the trees, along with birds singing and the smell of scrub oaks and pine trees.. and of course my thoughts flowed relentlessly.. ahhhh.. I really needed that, my head was about to burst. It's nice when no other soul is in sight  Smiley

Dennis & Bret,

Thanks for your comments! You've both captured in words much of the essence of the 'therapy' experience for this humble scooterizer... Just gliding along backroads... spotting an 'event', shrugging my shoulders and riding on... Stopping alone on a mountain top to gaze and to ponder... Communing with nature, savoring the amazing and varied thoughts that seem to never occur to me at other times... The totality of the experience defies description, but both of y'all have done a commendable job anyway!!! Thanks...

DDT, when I say therapy it's in the literal sense, as is for most of us I believe. Without having the Valkyrie or GW to ride out into the wild blue yonder I'd likely lose my marbles.

I'm pretty good at handling stress, or at least think I am, other than physical training, being on the bike is the most potent anti-stressorizing tool I have.. getting into the wind brings me immense relief and joy, my heart sings and every so often I look up to God and say thank you for this life and this moment.. of course I pick the most opportune moments, like NOT when on the mountain twisties haha.
I appreciate the philosophical contributions you bring to the forum, thank you for that and looking forward to your next 'blog' brother.  cooldude

Bret-Bruce. My attempts to splain ridin are at best/worst-FEEBLE. BUT WE/I deal with an audience that Truly GITS IT. We also KNOW What a Ride duz for the Soul. Fairly certain everyone of us that has tried to splain our PASSION/ADDICTION/NEED to non riders cuz they asked and even when informed by us that riding IS cursed hard to splain has seen the person asking eyes glaze over in utter non comprehension. But RIDERS do in Fact GIT IT. I also Know without a doubt that We RIDERS are the most Fortunate people about.  cooldude
When I pulled into Caulfield to shed the leathers Riders on an ST 1300 and a Yamaha V-twin something were coming out of the handi mart and both of them asked me after I turned the key off-What IS That Beast yer on? So with a Grin I attempted to splain Phatt Ghurl and Bruce I also mentioned Yer Lady and The MILES she IS accumulating. Phatt Ghurl needs a bath but the chrome Shined and it caught their attention.  2funny I again Thank GOD for installing little ol me in The Fraternity of RIDERS!  cooldude                                         RIDE SAFE.

I have a funny felling Bruce and Ali come up in many a conversation when someone asks about our phat girls.  I know I do, especially to Harley riders, you know I never hear how well built their bikes are after that. Nothing against Harley, I think about having one for around town jonts sometimes, and my brother loved his, but I hope it's a long time before I have to give up my therapist! Isn't it fun when you hear the WTF is that as they take a gander at the dragon.

Haha yep! Yesterday a guy in a nice black Porsche next to me at a light said 'man, that thing sounds good'.. I told him it was a Honda flat 6 and 18 yrs old, he was thrilled it was just like his engine and complimented me on how nice it looks and how well taken care of she is.  Smiley
