I got a kick out of one of her statements. She didn't want to be replaced under this President.

She did an honorable job at her office, but she should have not tried to stay as long as she did for the sole purpose of hoping to change the demeanor of the court. I do admire even unto death her ability to fight for what she believed.

Following her death, over $20 million was donated to ActBlue.

Aware of her imminent death and of the United States presidential election scheduled in less than two months, and hoping for the inauguration of a new president to replace Donald Trump in just over four months, she dictated a final statement to her granddaughter:

"My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed"

chuck Schumer states,

“The American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court justice,” Schumer, D-N.Y., tweeted Friday. “Therefore, this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new president.”

And of course the leftists are saying they will riot.

The more I see where the donations come from of the democratic party the more I see them as the party of death and destruction, devoted to the destruction of the US as we know it and it was founded on.

Setting politics aside for a moment may she Rest In Peace, I’m sure these last few years have been difficult on her and her family and I hope doctors kept her comfortable.

I admit I didn’t know much about her until I read this article but I did know she had a reputation of being a strong woman who had grit.

https://www.foxnews.com/us/ruth-bader-ginsburg-dies-at-87

In all honesty her life, her work and work ethic should be used as an example of how far women can go if they want, she was a true fighter and stood her ground with strong opinions. I have to admire her for the job she did and from the respect her colleagues had for her although they did not always see eye to eye. I hope she serves as an inspiration for future generations of young girls and women from all walks of life looking to make a difference. I hope kids write book reports on her.

As for the political side of this, I believe she tried to hold on until after the election to retire but it wasn’t meant to be and I doubt we will get a replacement for her until after the election. Even if a nominee is announced it will be dragged out as long as possible and will be ugly.

Whatever pain and suffering she went through fighting cancer is over and I hope her family is at peace with her passing, may she now Rest In Peace.

From the article:  Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) made the same argument [as Ginsburg] made Friday night, though he added that since the 2020 election results are expected to be contested, an eight-member Court poses a potential constitutional crisis.

That's another good argument for getting a new appointment confirmed now.  (Chief) Roberts is mostly a good judge, but he's sided with the minority several times over the years (and my reasoning is he has done so to avoid crisis and attacks on the court itself).  But his vote cannot be counted on in a contested election, so a 4 to 4 outcome is very possible.
