While people watch.

https://www.theblaze.com/news/thug-beats-cops-livestreamed-on-facebook

There are 3 videos included in this report and some language to be aware of if watching in mixed company.

“ A North Carolina police officer was airlifted to a hospital early Saturday morning after he was beaten while trying to make an arrest — and the attack was livestreamed on Facebook, left his face bloody, and featured laughing onlookers.”

“ A bystander recorded the attack on cellphone, and it went live on Facebook, the station said, adding that the video gained dozens of shares. The video lasted 11 minutes, WPDE reported in an earlier story.”

“The station said the officer asked a man for assistance, but the man refused. Several people came outside, and some urged others to help, WPDE noted. The officer was repeatedly punched in the face.”

“The clip does show one man pulling the attacker away from the officer, but another man is heard saying, "Let 'em whup his ass! Let 'em whup his ass!"

I was informed last night (by our county cops attending a 1 car accident one house down from mine), that they are now only operating in pairs in the patrol units (day and night).  Any suspicious calls may get 3 in the car.  I shook their hands and wished them well.

An allegedly sober woman hit a truck parked in front of a house on the street.  Hard enough to nearly total it.  Looked like a 50mph impact, not a lawful 25mph impact.  How does this happen?

I say dump the cell phone for evidence.

No one was beaten.... but a hard spanking seemed warranted.

I was about to reply in reference to the LEO responding alone.   Doesn't seem like a good idea to me, especially on a domestic disturbance/violence call.   Of course I wasn't there and don't know the circumstances.   The LEO may have been forced to get involved without help due to other things.

This I know, I fully support the police in 99% of the times I read about.   I also know, I wouldn't be a LEO for what they get paid.   But, I doubt they do it for monetary reasons.
Those that wish to defund the police get what they deserve.

In the reading at the link it's reported he was the only officer on duty at that time.  It must be a very small town environment.

Obviously, I didn't read the link but, I'm thinking there has to be a county sheriff dept around there some where.

But, just like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, I've got great 20/20 hind sight.  Wink

Some times here in Willow Springs we have but one L E O on over night. Our weekly rag reports some New L E Os have been hired but I do Not Know what the night situation will be here now. We have a Missoure State Highway Patrol station here in Willow but they are State. County Sheriff office and jail is in West Plains bout 24 miles south of here. And Knock on Wood I'm not aware of Any of Our L E Os from the 3 departments having any Bad trouble here lately. Just heard in Houston Tx. 2 L E Os shot one murdered and the other with injuries. RIDE SAFE.

In my area all LEO's have open jurisdiction regardless if they are town, county, or state. Response time is pretty phenomenal here but we're pretty much rural w/o any riff raff unless they come from I65/"The Twin Cities". I do agree that being paired is the way to go in the higher risk areas.

I fergitted to mention There IS a mutual enforcement pact tween departments. Folks off on a minor tangent here deez win open season on L E Os-what's left of them after Defunding-WILL Only git WORSE. And b and h WILL tear down the wall. Truthfully those two win I will be truly afraid. And trust me when I tell you the last time I was Truly afraid I was in a Navy aircraft and some folks on the boat off the coast of Nam were trying hard to eliminate Mr. and Mrs Patterson's oldest son. And the other 3 people I flew with. I'm close on to 76 year on this planet. WHAT are we leaving our Children and their offspring? Not so much my fear but fear for Them. RIDE SAFE.

The sad part is, they probably are. He had every right to shoot his attacker and I am surprised he didn't. Of course that would have been another innocent thug shot by police for no reason.  Angry

Rowland NC is a shrinking small town in a rural county with not much going on.  Right at the state line with South Carolina.  Drive through Rowland and you'll see it is not wealthy.  The incident would have likely had different results in a city with a large police force.

I read a related article that this had happened to this same officer before in an adjoining county. Seems like they need to re-visit their response protocols.

It's very difficult to watch and it makes one fearful of our future as a country with people this callous and no regard for the rule of law.

On the other hand, an officer that makes a habit of getting his ass kicked (1 on 1) may be in the wrong career field.  Not trying to justify what happened at all.  Some perps won't stop with inflicting just a broken nose.
