Defunding police is an absurd concept.  Sending unarmed civilians into potentially deadly situations is even more absurd.  A 911 operator cannot possibly ascertain all deadly situations.  So, what happens when these civilians get killed?  Who is responsible?  The 911 dispatch operator?  I know police have some training in de-escalation strategies.  Perhaps a better solution would be to put more emphasis on that training.

That said, officers are often forced to make split-second decisions... they can't hesitate.  Unfortunately, all too often... you hesitate, you die.

I back the blue and thank them for putting their lives on the line for us. police

Markymark hot pretty quiet when you started talking facts.
Darn those facts. Proves people wrong all the time. We don't need facts, just opinions that people agree with.

I read this on FB awhile ago. In most cases I found it to be true, but in my opinion.

Actually, I have a very good understanding of what defunding the police means.   I have several friends who are LEOs.   They get called out for all kinds of things that others are better qualified to address.

The answer in my opinion is to not defund the police but, for city, county and state governments to take the needed money from the Social Service Entitlement money currently being wasted.

Gosh, if a "couple" makes someone an "expert", my "several" friends must qualify me as "all knowing".  But, I don't claim to be that.  Wink

I don't have "several" friends in law enforcement  but I do have one very good friend that has two masters degrees in criminal justice, was the youngest Sargent in his department and is now a captain in that same department in the second largest city in Indiana. Now I'm no expert but HE definitely is and he would say Markymark is full of crap..
