Is anyone interested in a New Years Day ride? Rog and I were thinking of riding to Yankee's Tavern in Carlos. It's going to be about 52 for the high so we are going to leave a bit later in the morning...around 10AM. The other option is West of the Brazos in Damon. Anyone interested? Smiley

I thought Phyllis was going to lead the New Years Day ride to somewhere. But I have not heard anymore regarding that other than a few people saying they would go. I'm game weather permitting either way.

I hadn't heard anything.... but I'm happy to go where ever. Let us know when and where and we'll be there!

Go for it.  It was on the board a couple of weeks ago with no response, what can I say?

We were going to do it because no one else wanted to.  Right now, I'm not sure I'll be able to ride by Friday, I fell yesterday, and apparently did more deep bruising to my leg muscles than I thought.  Dr. says he's concerned about it being reliable about holding up the bike if I need to stop unexpectedly, and that's not a good thing!!

Problem is, you can't fix stupid.  Actually, the first accident yesterday wasn't stupid, that was the second one ....

I'll be ok once the muscles ease up.  I guesstimate a week or so.  I could risk it, but that Valk is a heavy bike to pick up if he's right and I'm wrong about the leg holding up.

QOTFU, I vote for West of the Brazos.  I can get there easily by truck ....  I'd hate to have to drive to Yankee Tavern.

I'm voting for West of the Brazos too. It's gonna be mighty cold...and Carlos is quite a ride...... so if that's good with everyone else, it's good with me. Their black-eyed peas are usually good and hot by noon. For those on bikes, let's plan on KSU from the HEB (at the gas pumps) corner of Hwy 59 and 99 at 11:00 AM. Let me know if you plan on going so we don't leave anybody behind. Happy New Year to everybody!

So, when you do get back in the saddle, one of your smaller, liter bikes might be the place to start? Happy New Year and Happy Healing! ~Jeff

I don't think I have a liter bike, no 1000's in the batch.

It won't be right, riding a different bike for New Years, tradition, you know.  But I figure I'll take the 750 out first, just in case....

Don't know which 750 you're talking about but my first Honda was a four cylinder CB750.  It was my first bike that had more than 2 bangers.  Bought it new the first year they came out!
Who could have imagined that a bike that smooth could be so powerful.
       SOooo... Long Live The 750s!!

Sidecar or trike should fix the temporary leg challenge.  I have to use one all the time in case I forget to put the sidestand down.  2funny

Both are out of commission at this time .... wouldn't you know?  We're going to be a long time recovering from the after effects of IKE, bikes shouldn't sit that long without exercise, but they all did .....

Wish I could go, but it looks like a New Year's day ride ain't happening in my part of Texas. The roads are completely covered with about 4" of white stuff, and it's still coming down. coolsmiley
