Correct, upswept pipes.

The later years changed the pipes slightly, but basically the same machine.  I have a CL360 too, this 450 has a considerable more snort to it.  I’ll only keep one of the machines, I have not decided which one yet.  I picked up the 450 last summer, basically a basic barn find; it ran though, which was a bonus.  I noticed a 1st gear slippage in a short test run and assumed it was just a basic clutch fix.  Nope.  I fixed a bunch of other things and kept tinkering with the clutch to no avail.  Rather than pass the machine on I decided to dig into this winter when I have some time.
Not a great machine for distance riding though, too much vibration at highway speeds.  Not a great dirt machine either as it is a heavy machine.  But if you want to rip down a gravel road or a farm field trail, this is the machine to have.

I have always loved this era of Hondas. I’d be an interested party if you decide to sell the 450

Well, I don’t want to turn this into a sale page.  Honestly, your better off looking local for machines, they do not cost much.  I paid $1500 for this one and I’ll have another $700 in it by the time I’m done.  $1500 was cheap, because there were several other unknowns when I was looking at the machine; most turned in to simple fixes while one (transmission) escalated.  Expect to pay 2500-3500 for a 350/360/450.  Expect to do carb work, valve adjustments, and timing even on a running machine.

I like it though, it is a fun hobby I have done for decades.

Do you want an original aircooled one, or the later model watercooled ones ?

If I had my choice, I'd go for a '71 R5B. The precursor to the RD. They didn't have reeds yet. I think everything else was nearly identical, even as they went to 400. I think a later model water cooled 400 is probably a lot more practical though.

I stick to Honda’s.  Although, I grew up on Yamaha 2 stroke’s.  In fact I had a 75 RD350 (orange) for a few years in the 1970’s, nice, fast, light machine.  There are some out in the market but to be honest many, many 2 strokes just didn’t make it.  We all wound them up pretty tight, and pretty often back then; they just couldn’t take that treatment forever.

yeah, sadly I thrashed 2 in my riding career. I had one with full racing fairing, clip ons, rear sets, milled heads, pipes. Really fun bikes for a 16 year old.

Use “Searchtempest.com”  and start hunting, that will be your best bet.

Non running machines usually sell for $1-$2 per cc.  Although, like many recreational vehicles I’ve seen a price spike lately.  On a 2 stroke like that unless it was running really good I’d do a compression check as well before making the deal.

My old CL450 was burgundy and black, it was well used when I became the owner. I rode that thing from the mouth of the rat to Tallahassee more than I want to remember.  The trip to San Diego to meet a high school buddy then to Sacramento, to see his dad, was the last trip on that old ride. It died  (probably rectifier) and I did not have the expertise to revive it at that time. I came home (Boca Raton, Fla from northern CA) on a Kaw 500 2 stroke triple. The Honda was smooth compared to that beast.

I poured a concrete countertop today. It’s 70”X25.5” with a sink knock out. It is right at 2cu ft of concrete so it will weigh in at just under 240 lbs. I’ll take it out of it’s mold on Monday and post some pictures

My 3 Hyundai's are SOUTH Korea, not NORTH Korea so it makes it o.k. right?  If you have never driven in past say 6 years a Hyundai/Kia, you may be surprised they are on par and IMO better than anything the big 3 produce by far as well as on par with HONDA/TOYOTA vehicles.  All mfgs. have their faults, and so far with 80 and 100K on 2 of the 3 Hyundia's,  pretty good vehicles for price paid which is about 5 grand less than a comparable Toyota/Honda product.  You may not get all of that 5K back come trade in time, but if keeping vehicles a long time,  who cares about resale/trade in.   AFter say 10 years,  they all regardless of mfg. are worth under 6K considering the mileage I put on them yearly.

Desten died unexpectedly Friday afternoon at home after undergoing some surgeries in February. 66, too young, and loved by family and friends alike. And less chance of running the water on your arm.

That counter top looks heavy.  My original cherry cabinets are 60yo and crumbling (or the structural is).  Eggs will roll off on my (cheap formica) counter to the floor.  If I put that top on mine, the whole thing would collapse.

Lol. That thing weighs 250 lb. also I broke it in half and used JB Weld to put it all back together. Worked really great. Better than I could have expected

Yep, about 2 years overdue leaving.  I make 8th outta 16 in my same dept. to have left in 2 years!  One would think HR and mgmt. would figure it out, but they are about as clueless and not caring as my 3 supervisors who should've been fired years ago.  I told 2 in my dept. today and both said congrats do not blame me one bit on leaving.  It would take me 7 years at their current pay raises (if any) to get what I will be making soon somewhere else starting.    ONLY person I feel sorry for is Nancy my very nice coworker soon to be age 70 wanting to retire in 2021 sometime being forced to go back to 40+ hours now per week vs. her doing only 20 hours past near 2 years for extra income to get her outta her house allowing her to babysit thursdays and fridays a few of her 46 grandkids soon to be 48 grandkids later in 2021.  Both me and my full time coworker doing same jobs quit in past 4 months apart and no one hired to replace us yet so feel REALLY sorry for Nancy whom if they ever get anyone hired for chump change will not last since Nancy has trained 7 now in 20 years there no one stays more than 2-3 years, most 6 months or less.   Horrible supervisor and lack of pay for what the job duties are worth will make all leave in the future.
