You guys are killing me with such plans. I'd love to do it but wonder if the flash backs would be too difficult. Rita and I made a number of trips out west, one of our many favorite destinations and returning to the same general area never got old. Kinda like our trips to New England in the fall...four seasons in a row.  cooldude

Uh...Jerry....Thai.   Wink

And if I ate any Thai food, I'd be in the dispensary. It would turn me into a smartass faster than Mexican food. Personal experience.  Cool

I'll probably be out there in March, and I keep two bikes there, so I may have to meet you there.  Maryanne and I are in Cripple Creek, but we'd be glad to show you some meet roads around there.  I've also got a pretty well stocked garage if anyone's bike needs attention.  Keep me in the loop!

Canõn City would be a must with Skyline Drive, we would certainly be in your hood at some point. We got jipped out of the zip line across Royal Gorge last time as it was too windy.  Sherry is still upset.

Larry we would definitely love to come find you and Maryanne, and take you up on any trips you have in mind and maybe you both would be interested in joining us with some of the other areas we would hit. Aspen and Ouray is a must!    Also the route south out of Cripple Creek to Cãnon City, is that paved?  Maybe we need to make Cripple Creek a place to stay, how are accommodations there?

I'm thinking seriously about flying back and joining you for the trip, you know!  A buddy of mine and I did the north Texas route a few years ago and made it the morning of the 6th day (to be greeted by 9 inches of snow within two hours of arriving. Guess we left a little early!

Cripple Creek has really good accommodations and improving all the time, as it is a casino town.  A great place to start woud be the "Gold Strike Inn".  It's less than a quarter mile from our house, and has 9 bedrooms.  Roger and Ophelia are the owners, and now only rent to groups.  Tell them that I sent you, or, if the group is interested, let me know and I will contact them.  It's a beautiful Victorian home and they'll make the garage available to you.  You and Sherry and another couple would be welcome to stay with us!

Cripple Creek connects to either Hwy 50 just west of Canon City via hwys Teller 1, 11, then 9. (about 45 miles).  It also connects with Hwy 24 via either 67 or Teller 1.  All are paved.  For the more adventurous, Phantom Canyon Rd connects from Victor (3 miles south of Cripple Creek) to Florence, and the Shelf Rd connects Cripple Creek to Garden Park and Canon City.  They are single lane dirt, but I have done them both on my Gold Wing.  Rough going, but the views are spectacular!   The bikes will get filthy, but there's a car wash in Canon!  By the way, my riding buddy is a retired professor of geology, and loves to explain what we are looking at as we travel.   He rides a BMW, but we won't hold that against him!    cooldude

Let me know as this becomes a reality, and we'll get together.  I'm excited!

So, I talked to my riding buddy in Canon City and asked him 'If" I bought another Valkyrie for the ride, "If" he would be interested in flying back to FL just to do the ride.  He said yes, so it is going to happen.
I found another 1998 Blue and Cream Valkyrie in Miami and am working on it now.  Other than a clutch master cylinder issue, it is ready to go.  Let's just say that mine is the Princess, and the new one is the Ugly step sister!  (She has a good personality, though)!

So, any ideas about when this might happen? Actually, Curt (my buddy) said that 'If" you guys can't do it, we'll just fly back and do the ride for the hell of it.  What do you think?   By the way, before you let life, and Covid, get in the way, Curt is 80 years old!  Let's do it!   Evil

So are any Yankees allowed on this trip?  If you don't mind me inviting myself, I'd love to do it depending on timing.

Hmm...already booked for InZane which is June 13-18, kinda shoots down my chances of making the trip with you guys. Hoping to have the trike ready for travel in the next couple weeks so I can take it out for a ride on my b'day April 2nd, surely it will be warm enough by then(dare to dream). Tell Teach I'm also in my 80's as is his buddy... be 83 in April. Hoping to put some miles on the trike this summer which should include Florida.

Wow!  Thanks for all the responses!  No pressure, Sheff!  'Just wanted to see if things were still progressing.  It's really hard to plan anything these days.  There's such a narrow window between love bugs, heat, afternoon rains, and shots in arms!  Everybody stay safe and healthy, and we'll see if this develops.
