the guy pointed the new valve stems to the wrong side of the tire

That happened to me too some years ago.

On the front it's no big deal, but on a tourer/interstate bagger (interstate for me), it meant crawling under on your belly (unless you roll the bike just right to reach in from the rear).

Next tires it got fixed.   tickedoff

LOL, I have a Helix and the only way to fill the rear tire is to get a threaded extension lay on your side to thread it on the valve stem then do what needs to be done.  I always put in 2 or 3 pounds more than I want because when you screw off the extension you lose several pounds.

One of the reasons we all need to sh!tcan the OE rubber stems is because too many of us would just jam the air chuck on the rubber one handed, bending it around, leading to cracks at the wheel in aging stems (and long miles at speed with heat).

The only safe way to air up OE stems is with both hands, one holding the stem straight up against the chuck in the other hand.  And that requires you to get all the way down on the ground.

Like you said earlier, us old guys can get down just fine (those with original knees anyway), it's the getting back up that sucks.   Grin

When I bought the RustyValkryie the rear valve stem was gone, just a nub sticking out of the rim.  When it came time last week to buy new ones I opted for all metal right angle ones.  Only rubber on them are the o-rings.
