Meat, the Mountain Lion had a rather strong flavor.  Couldn't relate it to anything else I have eaten, but then I have lost my sense of smell when I was 18 or so.

Never been far enough north where I could eat critters up there.   Think I would like to try caribou.
Caribou is pretty strong. We usually had all of ours made into polish sausage.

Meat, when we moved to WY in '79, money was really tight.  We, wife and I, would go harvest 5-6 antelopes a year.   There were way too many of them so lots of doe tags could be obtained.  Not much for tags.   They would be ground up.  Very few steaks would be made out of them.   There would be two Mule deer and an elk also in the freezer.   Deer/Elk would be mostly steaks were we could cut them, ground the rest.   Even tried making jerky out of the antelopes,  was good but lot of work.

As money got a lot less tight and kids grew up (somewhere around 92 or so).  Quit hunting as didn't need the meat.  No regrets, got more than my fair shear of deer and elk.

When I ate frog legs, I thought it was good (tastes like chicken!)
but the bones were so creepy I don't think I'll ever eat 'em again...

-Mike

If it tastes like chicken then I will just eat chicken.  Wink
