Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: January 01, 2010, 07:17:49 AM »

Alittle late in getting this one posted ...We rolled out Monday morning 12-28-09 in bitter cold temp's in the low 20's with Cullman , Alabama and The Downtown Grill as stop # 1 . The Downtown Grill is owned and operated by VRCC member Wayne ( Winghot ). He hooked us up with a outstanding meal ( Thank You Wayne ) .We had a nice group at the resturant but when it was time to ride only 7 bikes left with us. From Cullman we made our way up around Guntersville Lake on backroads to Fort Payne , Alabama for the first over-night stop. Was'nt as cold Tuesday morning with temp's in the low 30's when we rolled out for Little River Canyon. This first picture you can trust me on this no one was wanting to jump from the falls   Wink

Little River Falls....It was cool standing here and checking out God's handy work.

The road through Little River Canyon can give a motorcycle rider wood. We had zero traffic to worry with it was as if we owned the place. Shot down river from the falls.

Work was going on with the bridge but we did'nt see any workers maybe it was to cold   Undecided

After leaving Little River Canyon we made our way into Georgia on roads less traveled it was a " Let's see where this goes " kinda ride <---my favorite  cooldude  We found a beautiful lake that I can't remember the name of  ??? and the roads around it was outstanding for the art of motorcycling.

We came back into Tennessee along Lookout Mountain one of the group had never seen Raccoon Mountain Pumped-Storage Plant. The company I work for owns and operates this mountain. The road to the top will rip your pegs off with some outstanding tight curves . Keep in mind TVA has its own police force and just about all of them are real pricks so drag pegs at your own risk  First picture is about half way up thats Chattanooga , Tennessee.

We was burning daylight as we neared the top of Raccoon Moutain. A awesome full moon followed us back off the mountain to the motel just outside of Chattanooga. You folks that made the call not to join us in Cullman , Alabama or cut out early the next day missed a great ride. We had a outstanding group of riders that stayed tight even in the twisties . Again special thanks to Wayne ( Winghot ) and the lady's that work for him the food and service was second to none at The Downtown Grill in Cullman , Alabama.

Few pictures from the top of Raccoon Mountain the last one is one of the generating units thats on display. TVA has four of these inside the mountain making power. Check out the link if interested. http://www.tva.gov/sites/raccoonmt.htm

Joe, I can't say enough how badly I hate not getting to at least have lunch with you guys. Work was crazy all week. Some on vacation and others out sick really put us in a bind.   tickedoff  It didn't help any when Wayne sent me a text telling me that everyone was there having a good time.   Sad   It sounds like everyone had a good time and a good ride. Glad to hear it.

I also want to say thanks to RonK for the "gift". Gonna try and install them today. It was pretty funny when Jan came back to tell me that I had a visitor at the door. She is a sweet lady and had a concerned look on her face when she said "you have a visitor at the front. It's a large man with a beard and wearing leather chaps."   Grin  It was good to see you again.

With the world going down the toilet as it is today just be thankful you have a job. We would have enjoyed the company but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.... Most of the group that made the ride plans on being at Cheaha this year. Maybe we'll share the wind then  cooldude

Whenever I see pictures like this I think I should be making plans to move to TN.  My oldest daughter lives there and I have firends there too.  In three years I hope to be retired.  Maybe that's the time.

Come on down and let's ride  cooldude

Thanks for shaing the photos Joe. It's been years since I was last in that area. And there's a lot more to see and do in that part of the South.

One observation I've made over the years is that Alabama has some beautiful women and the deeper south you get the more that southern drawl will melt your heart cooldude
