So, many years ago I was noticing that I was killing myself smoking tobacco cigarettes, and had developed a bad smokers cough from sucking down over a pack a day. I decided to try the vaping route. Finding the right combination as a substitute for cigarettes was not an easy task, and I had to go through many devices before finding one that gave a proper puff mimicking the smoke well. Harder still was finding the proper e-juice, one that actually tasted like an ol' cowboy killer that I'd grown so fond of and addicted to. Enjoyment. No more hacking smoker's cough. Life was good.
I found a company out of Georgia that naturally extracted some of their juices from tobacco. Their flavors were awesome, and I was a very happy customer over the years. When the whole kids vaping thing came up a couple years ago, I had to fax them my driver's license to keep on file for future orders.
So the PACT Act just passed, part of this COVID relief crap. I go to order some more juice today and they are going out of business after nine years. They can no longer ship their products via the USPS, and many other new regulations are forcing them out.
I'm so pissed. I've tried patches, gums and lozenges to no avail in the past. I've emailed congressmen regarding this issue numerous times over the years, and stated how e-cigs have probably saved my life.
Looks like those who know best for me have screwed me over once again. Thanks, Big Brother. A-holes!!!

Unsolicited advice - look into Chantix. (But go into it with your eyes open, it DOES mess with your head! But..... 14 years since my last cigarette thanks to it too, and you only need to take it temporarily.)

Maybe, 98. I know for a fact that my health and quality of life dramatically improved when I quit smoking old school tobacco. As I said, the smoker's hack I'd developed over decades just stopped. Regardless, the nicotine addicted libertarian in me is madder than a hatter about it. It's none of their friggin' business.

I agree, it really isn't any of their business. But, what you need to remember is, they are from the Government and are here to help you. Rams

I had wild vivid dreams. There were some reports of suicidal thoughts while on it, although later research has disputed this. If you take it, NEVER take it on an empty stomach, you HAVE to take some substantial food with each pill. But it works. It seems to bind to the nicotine receptors in our brains, so you can still smoke if you want, but you don't get the dopamine hit from smoking. My story in brief: Week one you take 1/2 doses, smoke normally. I was a 2 pack a day Camel smoker on day one. They told me to just smoke like I wanted to, don't TRY to quit yet. End of week one I was down to about 1.5 packs a day on my own. Day 1 of week 2 you go to full doses. First day I had 5 cigarettes. Day two I had 3. Third day on full doses went out back for my morning smoke, lit up, got halfway through it, puked my guts out, put the smoke out, tossed the rest of my pack in the trash and haven't had another cigarette since. (True test - less than a month after this I was working on an oil rig off the coast of Africa upgrading their on board servers. I needed a space to stage the new servers so I could configure them and transfer data off the old ones - They put me in the smoker's lounge. I didn't have one.)

Very interesting story Serk.
Me, I still vape but down to zero nicotine. I think it alway was what I will call "oral gratification". And no snide remarks please.
I am vaping less and less but still enjoy the "smoke".
Local vaping shot still in business and still uses USPS. They are about 25 miles away.
I guess stopped smoking cigarettes some 15 or so years ago.
Oh, I do vape while I am riding so if you see me on the road and big cloud of smoke shows up, that's just normal.

Hi Valkorado, first off, congrats on making the switch to a less harmful alternative! I came to Canada in 2011. Until then I was a pack a day smoker for 18 years. Here in Canada I heard about vaping for the first time and got myself a kit to try it out. Since then I didn't have a cigarette (ok, every New Year's I have some puffs to remind me what kind of crap I put in my body for 18 years) and my health improved by a lot. A couple years later I started working in this industry and am now leading our production site for our liquids. Growing up I was never interested in history and politics. Since I started working in this industry I am following what is going on worldwide in terms of vaping regulations.... and it is just crazy how politics works! You guys in the States got hit hard with the PMTA and now USPS, UPS and DHL shitting on everyone as well. Here in Canada the consultation period just ended for a nicotine cap at 20mg/ml and now they want to go after all the flavours. It's a complete shitshow and it's all about money. No government wants healthy citizens! No money to make there. In 2014 I had to get an X-Ray of my chest to get my Permanent Residence. Me and the doc sat there looking at the X-Ray and he said "everything looks good!" I asked if he could see anything on there that shows that I was a pack a day smoker for 18 years? He looked again and said "nope, looks like completely healthy lungs." That was 3 years after I made the switch to vaping! The first vape shop in Canada opened in 2010. After that more and more opened and it got a bit mainstream by 2014. In Vancouver BC you basically have a vape shop every 2 blocks. Since then Big T, Pharma and the media started to destroy this industry: exploding batteries, EVALI, youth epidemic.... all bullshit! Bloomberg is funding Cancer, Lung Associations... Parents against vaping and what not. He spent $160Mio just last year to fight vaping. What nobody knows is that he also funds his own vaping product, called HALE. He wants to destroy the vaping industry to then be the competition on the market to the products from Big T. Since those products all don't work, all vapers will go back to smoking.... mission accomplished. Look up the "Tobacco Settlement Agreement". Big T in the States needs the smokers to be able to pay all their money to the states. The media did a great job and people think vaping is a s harmful as smoking. All bullshit! What's killing people comes from the combustion in cigarettes, not from vaping. Nicotine itself is a great drug and researched for Alzheimers, Parkinson, Tourette... and many other things. There is a great documentary about it called "You don't know Nicotine". https://watchibex.com/programs/ydkn?cid=1505477Vaping saves Lives! Sorry for the rant, but this topic gets me every time...

VanCityValkyrie,
I was going to make a "conspiracy theory" post that was similar to what you posted above. I have always thought the big move against vaping was from big tobacco.
You just confirmed it.

My Chantix story is a bit different than Serk's. First, you need a doctor's script (at least you used to). I got my dermatologist to write it, as his daughter the receptionist was using it. The doc knew nothing about it, but gave me the script anyway (we're buddies). I also had to eat food, otherwise, you suffer (like a number of supp's and drugs). I never got sick, but I could have without food. I did the smaller to larger doses as prescribed, and I kept smoking. But I cut down every chance I could, and I put my cigarettes somewhere I had to go find them (not right where they always were). I went two full months on it before final cold turkey (down to about 5 a day by that time). I think the psycho aspects of Chantix really effect people who are already prone to a bit of psycho. I had no suicidal or weird thoughts, I didn't see little green men standing the the corner, I did have a few dreams out of the ordinary but not bad, but it does give you a bit of a glow or slowed cognition (but not a fun one like Hydrocodone). I really didn't like it, but I kept at it. But it does not stop smoking for you (at all). You really have to want to quit, and you have to keep working at it mentally. I quit at 60 days, but I still wanted cigarettes badly for months more before I got over the physical and mental addiction. Chantix just dulls the mental addiction, but does nothing for the physical addiction, thus the hard work at cutting down during the process. At about 14 months, I though I could have a cigar once in a while (big mistake). And I did just that, for awhile. But soon enough I was smoking cigarettes (and cigars too) again. Earlier, I had slapped two nicotine patches on my arm for a 15 hour flight. As soon as I arrived, I had two cigarettes, and I blew lunch (as the patches were still working full blast). After puking, I had another cigarette right away to get the bad taste out of my mouth. I have quit quitting. It's the last vice I have (besides my afternoon naps). The only way I can quit is to be marooned on an island with Wilson. (and Wilson would probably end up murdered)

Thanks for your comments VanCityValkyrie, very interesting hearing your insight from within the industry. I also know, from personal experience, that vaping is night and day from smoking combustable tobacco. Since you are in the know, I am only using Purity NET extracted juice. No foo-foo flavors, tastes like an American Spirit without the carbon. It's good stuff! I'm kinda with Jess, give me my vice! I enjoyed smoking, and l like vaping more. It is extremely satisfying to take in and exhale a good cloud of nicotine, sans the reek and cough. I think I may have found another source. Time will tell. I hope your job remains healthy and is not affected by the bullsh!t regulations.
