I am wondering about the popularity of the Victory. I have an opportunity to pick one up on the cheap. I dont know what model or year yet. I am told the resale value is about $6500 but they are asking less than $4000.
The guy is expecting a baby and is desperate for cash.
I am considering it as an investment bike to tinker with and resale.
Any thoughts. Is there a demand for the Victory?

Victory dealer around here is about to go broke on the bike side.
If he didn't have the Quad's and the John Deere equipment, they would be no longer in business.
They are a V twinkie, but not a Harley..... in the resale department.

A riding friend of ours had an early one (2001?) that he bought used. He had considerable reliability problems with it. The newer models are reputed to be much more reliable. We think that the new cross roads and cross country bikes have visual appeal. We know little else of them, as they are not common in our environment. We trudge on.

Same here. An independent M/C repair shop had a Victory dealership here for about 3 yrs right when they came out but got rid of it. I don't know why, probably no sales because you don't see them around. This guy has been around 30-35 yrs as an independent bike repair shop but I kinda wonder about his decisions, but give him credit for trying, because now he has the Hoysang(spelling?) bike dealership that also doesn't seem to be doing well. The wife and I are freinds with the people at a Honda-Suzuki dealer and they had a used Victory for sale I test rode. Seemed to handle good and had a fair amount of power (the previous owner beefed it up a bit) but nothing that "WOWed" me by no means. However you talk to Victory owners and they claim they're the best thing since sliced bread!! (guess they never rode a Valk, huh?)

Without knowing the specific model of Victory it's kinda hard to comment. Some are worth it and some are not, just like other bikes. There are some that really like the Victory line..... but it all depends on the model I think.

I like them, but they do NOT have good resale value and are hard to get rid of.

If someone is selling anything for $4000 and claiming its resale value is $6500 you really do need to take a long distrusting look.

My friend tells me he got the $6500 off of KBB. so I am thinking it is abut a 2001 model. The bike belongs to his cousin. They are not very popular around here either. The closest dealer that I am aware of is about 100 miles away. Thanks for all the thoughts. I may take a look at it but will probable steer clear. Too many other unexpected expense lately. Tom

Tom, isn't there a victory dealership in Pcola? If it is still open, tell your friend to take the bike over there and have it gone through. By the way, which Victory is it? The only one that interests me is the Vision Tour and I would prefer it to be watercooled even though their engineers claim they designed it to receive maximum airflow to cool the engine without making the riders uncomfortable.

A search does show one in P'cola, I was thinking the closest was in Freeport Fl. I'm not sure which model. My friend works the opposite shift from me so I left a message with his boss to find out which model and year.

Tom Yeah, even KBB can be misleading sometimes. Remember, the bikes only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Although I'm inclined to agree with you, some people think those are the best looking bikes ever, at least on another m/c board I'm on. Before I knew what these were I saw one in person in Shiner, Tx as i was passing through. I thought it was a scooter on steroids! But like I always say "to each his own"

Look at one from the front, Bozo for sure. Also looks like something on a year 2050's mechanical people movie.

We had a lot of victory bike out here and the riders like them. The local honda dealer took over the bike line this last summer. The head salesman told me he has been selling 5-6 a month. Keep in mind too our California weather tend to treat bikes better than in most places. I do see a lot of older one still on the road out here.

I'd bet the river bottom farm its not a Vision model as ugly as they are they ask a pretty good price for them.....I've saw this one several times around Deal's Gap and Cherohala Skyline. I took these pic's last summer in Tellico Plains, Tn. Joe, that is one repulsive piece of machinery.

We gaze at the photo and contemplate the fact that some one spent good $$$ to purchase and modify that Victory Vision to its current state. This again proves that there is truly no accounting for taste... We trudge on (incredulous).

My wife rides a Harley, thinks its beautifull And even SHE knows those Vision things are hideous ! Yeah same here but the one I am talking about it NOT that one. it is a much older model I think a 2001, looks much more Harley than what ever the new version is. Remember I was looking at something to tinker with and resale... not to ride.. I've recently got my bags painted and some more chrome for Christmas so there is not a lot left to do to the Valk. sort of a turbo kit which is way beyond my mechanical skills and my wallet.

We have a saying down south, this is the modified version: "I wouldn't stand out in the rain to get a dozen of those bikes for free" but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If you think you can make a dollar on that bike, go for it! If you can't turn it, you can ride the snot out of it.
