June 2018 was the last and second kidney stone event. This is the 3 event coming on. Infrequent gentle pain increasing over the past few weeks to intermittent stabbing upon rising from a seated position and occasional steps. I listened to Oss's advice last time and have been ingesting magnesium and of course my gout medicine daily. This morning's stabbing was a good one and I think Sandra lifted slightly out of her seat when I yelled. So far I'm avoiding actual discernible words

I guess I'm lucky with them. I've felt their effects a few times, the first time I was sure I was about to die since I didn't know what it was. Anywho... so far I've "gotten over it" really quick and have never felt the excruciating "passing the stone" feeling...

Is this something that maybe seeing a doc earlier rather than later might make a difference ?
In any event - I hope this "passes" sooner rather than later..

Sorry to hear it Paul.
I had my one stone about 16 years ago (and my one shingles about 14 years ago).
It's OK with me if I don't have any do-overs.
I was off my magnesium for a couple years, but I'm back at it.
My only advice is pound all the water you can take.
EDIT: The only thing the doctor did for my stone, was admit me, hook me to an IV push for fluid and pain, take pictures of the stone a couple times, and leave me in my filthy ER cubbyhole to suffer my way through it. They thought it had passed the next morning, and I staggered home and slept all day. I woke up, ate some food, the pain started again, and I passed it sometime that night (at home).

I can go lay face down in the creek if the tap runs dry

Docs can give you opioids (maybe not anymore?) ... they come with their own problems if you take very many, but the instant relief and weird dreams I got from the several I took were appreciated.
If they look in there and see that your stone is the size of a thumb, they can admit you and blast it with ultrasound or lasers or something (I forget which)...
Is there anything else they can do?

Hate for anyone to go through this. I finally got relief by taking allopurinol, 100mg twice a day. I was having them as frequent as Britman but since I've been on the allopurinol...none in nearly 15 years.

All I drink every day is water and have done for years. Even after beer I drink lots of water. I'm just going to tough it out again. I think I know what I'm in store for, hopefully the same as the previous events. I've not been able to "catch" any stones in the past. It's the last 9 inches are the worst

I've not been able to "catch" any stones in the past. They had me peeing through a large cloth (mask looking) strainer when I was at the ER. That is a PITA holding and target shooting (while suffering). And pumping me full of fluids, I was continuously peeing like a racehorse. They sent me home the next morning with no fruit in my strainer. At home I said the hell with a strainer. Though I did look in the toilet for signs of blood and/or particles (each time). At the end, there was a bit of blood, but I would be dammed to go fishing around in there for particles. Even if lab pathology on the particles can tell you about the type of stone you got (and maybe lead to more specific treatment/diet/supplements). But when the 80-90% are calcium, I just assumed mine was calcium too. (9 inches ) (My first wife the nurse told me males are easier to catheterize (if that needs done) when erect. It would be unprofessional nursing to induce an erection, but if the male gets one spontaneously, and it makes difficult catheterization easier, who's to complain?) I'm happy to say I've never even seen a catheter (except in TV commercials).

It's the last 9 inches are the worst Old Disney song..."when we wish upon a star...." Reminds me of the old story about a guy that claimed his junk was as long as a cat's tail and made a large bet with his friends about it. So they grabbed a pet cat and measured the tail which turned out to be nearly 12" in length. The braggart clung to his claim, then asked if they measured the cat's tail from the cat's anus to the end of the tail. Yes...why? Then you measure me in the same manner. He won his bet although I doubt it had an impact on performance.

I got a mild dose of poison ivy yesterday.
Quick thorough washing of hands and application of topical cream along with a Benadryl and this morning I am free of itch and rash.
I'm guessing it was just a mild brushing against the offending plant.
It in turn has received a spray of Roundup and is showing the results this morning.
Aint life grand.

Paul I have found dawn dishwasher soap vigorously rubbed and rinsed and waste a few paper towels then I use this stuff https://www.teclabsinc.com/shop?gclid=CjwKCAjwmv-DBhAMEiwA7xYrd625mcEmtvGUXHG0hjIEuTZg6bEyZEclAsYdC5KQx7rPzlLsxqtB3hoCXncQAvD_BwE#!/Tecnu-Extreme-Poison-Ivy-Scrub/p/129489422/category=33185046 The key is to really get the crap off the skin which in my case requires a lot of scrubbing and rinsing Learned to only use paper towels and not towels that I will re use the hard way Vinegar on the plants also kills em dead with less cancer risk but our ages......
