Can someone identify this gun?

Joanne's dad passed away and she wanted to get one of his guns, since he was left handed the long guns are out of the question. But this would be good for her.
I'd like to make a fair offer to her mother for it but all I have is a picture to go by.

It's a Ruger .22

Looks to be a Ruger Mark II Target... I've got one almost identical to it, just checked my records I paid $250 for it 1.5 years ago at a Pawn Shop in almost perfect shape with a spare magazine...

Update - I got mine outta the safe and held it next to the monitor, they're identical except mine has Hogue grips on it...

Few current auctions for comparison:

Stainless Steel version - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=151927476

Full Bull Barrel version - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=152616302

Another bull barrel - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=152044165

Another one - http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=152118931

IMHO, $250 would be a good family, non insulting price to offer...

...and for what it's worth, my condolences to Joanne... Sad

that is a Ruger mark 2 target.  looks like it's about 15 years old 'cause i had one exactly like it 15 years ago!  it's an excellent gun, worth about $300, new around here for $400.

by the way, it's a 22 LR.  will shoot shorties, but won't eject em.

it's an wonderful gun for shooting squirels, rabits, small game.  i loved mine, sold it ten years ago when i got scared of my kids finding it (even though i always kept it locked)

Looks very similar to the newer model MKIII, which has a MSRP of 362.00 but can be had for less brand new.

My Dad had an identical Ruger that had "government test model" stamped on the barrel. He ended up trading it in for a heavy-barrel model. I don't remember what it was like to shoot with the light barrel, but the heavy is a fun, fantastic little gun.
