I am a relatively new owner of a '99 Valkyrie Interstate. Technically I took ownership of it in July of last year, but it needed a bit of work. So it spent most of the rest of last year in and out of the shop for a carb rebuild, clutch replacement, and fork seal leaks. Meaning this year is the first year that I have really started riding it regularly.

This past Tuesday (5/18) around 6:30 pm, I was driving south on Lesourdsville West Chester road when I passed what looked like a blue and silver Valkyrie Interstate going the other direction. Unfortunately, I was not on my bike at the time.

And maybe a month ago, I swore I passed a black and jade green Valkyrie near Keehner Park. Again, not on my bike at the time.

I was so enamored and a bit surprised to spot a couple of Valkyries in the wild around the Cincinnati area, and it made me wonder if any of you were on the forum or if there was something like an interactive map where Valkyrie owners could pin their locations?

Howdy and welcome!

I'm no where near Cincinnati, but you're VERY close to Athens, Ohio, where this June around 250 or so of us will be getting together, if you're able you should sign up and come say howdy!

That sounds awesome! Unfortunately, it does not look like the timing is going to work out for me. That would have been really neat to see.

RDA - Roger da Bull (to the north of Cinci, he identifies as SW Ohio) is nearby also

yah,  is shocking to see Valks in/around my area but someone in or near my town of 1200 people has a red/black I/S since see it parked downtown every summer.   There is another Valk in nearby town 30 miles away as well have seen that parked as well at stores.  To have 2 Valks knowingly within a 30 miles radius of me in rural America is sort of shocking.

Do not SHINE it up too much for has happened 2x's for me in past 12 years after cleaning/waxing where someone follows me around until I stop and asks me what cycle is that and how old it is and blah, blah, blah......     After I tell them it is 20 years old and the 80K plus mileage on one of them anyways,  they do NOT believe me, let alone on the same engine/tranny since HD's usually only go 1/2 of that... Grin

The other time was on my all black I/S after cleaning it up stopping at an Ace Hardware store nearby town.  Guy followed me up asking me all kinds of questions saying sharp looking bike, etc.   That same day down the road got groceries and coming out I saw 2 HD looking types walking up to my cycle puzzled since when did HD make a HUGE wide engine like that?  They saw the HONDA symbol and immediately walked away, now that was very funny made me laugh out loud.    Grin

I am also in West Chester! West Chester Township actually. Maybe we will cross paths again then. I have a green and silver Interstate.

I found the post on the YOOPER event, but that seems like a daunting haul at the moment since I have only ridden around town so far. Something to consider though...

Welcome Tarpshack,

I'm on the eastside of Cincinnati (Amelia) and currently own 3 Interstates.  99 Green/Silver, 99 Red/Black and a 2000 Red/Black.  I hope to cross paths with you at some point.  Check out the details of the DRU ride in Corydon, IN on the weekend of Sept 17th.  Always a good ride and good turnout of Valk riders.

Ride Safe!

3 Interstates! Wow! Yeah, Amelia is not too far away. I hope we cross paths at some point too.

There's also a handful of us in Central Kentucky (Lexington area) - about 1 hour south of Cincinnati.

As Kraig mentioned, try to hit the DRU in September.  Steve and Dianne Eads are great hosts - and a lot of these folks will be relatively "local" riders.

Hi Tarpshack--

I am in West Chester also, but you did not see me, as my bike is red/cream.  We can hook up some time.  PM me and we can trade info.  You have a cool handle--interested to hear the story.

Welcome. I'm in the Northeast corner of Ohio.  You will find there isn't such a thing as to long of a trip on the phat girl as long as you have the time. I rode mine to the Inzane event in Taos 2 years ago. I used 3 days each way and was a nice trip.  There are a ton of really nice people in this group and all I have talked to are more than willing to share their knowledge. At my last count there was 31 Ohioans going to Inzane this year.

I live in Ft Wright but my job keeps me and my Valkyrie out of town quite a bit. I hope to make InZane this year. I recommend attending if possible.

It is great to hear from everyone. Thanks for the warm welcome. Unfortunately, my family's summer plans mean I will not be able to make it to InZane this year. Which is unfortunate because I had already wanted to do the Windy 9 at some point anyway. And next year it will be somewhere farther away, I expect.

Thanks also to everyone who mentioned the DRU. I am thinking about that one.
