37 years (and a few days) ago, I began my active military service to our country. (8 years 8 months active, 20 more inactive reserve).  The best job I ever had.

I salute all past and present veterans and patriots of our country.

Jess,

Thank you.

53 years, 5 months and some days ago, I started my active service (5 years 10 months).  While the work was not always fun, the people I served with were excellent.  I was challenged, learned a bunch of stuff that sticks with me even today.  (Dentist keeps asking me what's "new" or "nu").

As I stated in a previous post, four of us took two week trips on our bikes for several years running.  On one trip to New England we stopped in DC and visited "Arlington" and the wall.  I tired to make videos out of all the still images from our trips and I did one about our visit to Arlington.  Not as good video quality as your images but I offer it here in memory of those served and who died in their service to our nation.

Its a dropbox video.

To all my fellow brothers and sisters who also served - thank you for your service, no matter what your job was.

On my Public channel today I caught the Fascinating True story of Jim Schmidt. In 1942 he became an Army paratrooper at 14 years of age in Italy. The Army after his Moms letter got him home safely then he promptly joined the Navy. While serving on a Destroyer. the Navy also became aware he was too young and also showed him the exit door. So he gets nack to CONUS and decides to join the merchant marine and makes two trips on an ammo freighter and when done with that and at the end of the war he Joins-legally now-the Army. Occupation Germany then occupation Japan then Korea starts and he ends up alongside The Marines at the Chosen resivoir. Back stateside he teaches parachute school then Vietnam starts and he goes there. After a couple tours in Nam he gets back stateside again request to go back to Nam Army turns him down he puts in his papers and after retirement goes back to South East Asia and joins Air America! 2 Silver Stars and 3 Combat Infantry Badges and a couple Purple Hearts and Other Military Awards. And I've compressed this quite a bit. If you have access to a public channel look for this story. You Will NOT be disapointed. RIDE SAFE.

Either I'm standing funny or I didn't quite get that patch straight when I sewed it on my jacket.  BTW, I believe this to be a spy photo, I don't recall posing for it.

The message holds true, thanks for posting it.
