My wife and I are going to Bike Week 2010. We will be staying at the Volusia County Fairgrounds in DeLand,.....$90.00 per person for 9 nights,.....best deal going.

Traveling like gypsies and living like paupers.

I'll be down there for a week or two. Will be staying with Brother and Sister-in laws. they live about a mile from the Ironhorse Saloon. It's a good price FREE:)

Kim & I will be going to the Deland Bikefest on the first Saturday & will probably head back home Sunday evening. We are very fortunate to have my sister's condo on the St. Johns River in Astor available for us, for free of course! cooldude
We live only 60 miles from Daytona so running back & forth is no big deal. I will most likely come back for Thursday & Friday the 2nd week & maybe stay for the 2nd Saturday too. We have found that we are enjoying the time on the river more & more as we seem to be losing interest in the big crowd scene in Daytona. I guess it's just part of getting old!  Shocked Grin
There are numerous bike shows that I like to attend after we have "made the rounds" to Rossmeyers, Main St. , Beach St. , & the Speedway, etc.

Nice river view from the condo.

Bikes have covered parking out back. cooldude

We like to leave the Saturdays open in case there are any Valk gatherings.

Kim & I on Main St. last Biketoberfest.

If the weather is nice don't feel that you must stay in Daytona, lots of good day rides in the area!

cooldude Aint that the truth stormrider!
I seems the Valk gets it's fair share of looks & comments especially from the owners of legendary American made bikes that have lots of heritage & mystique........ as long as they are alone & no other owners of legendary American made bikes with lots of heritage & mystique are around.  Roll Eyes Grin  Grin

Even when I had the Rocket 3 the Valk would draw more looks & comments.
Go figure.  uglystupid2

Either that or they are looking at Kim! Must make 'em feel kinda wimpy watching a woman riding by on a big 'ol Valkyrie.  Cheesy Cheesy

Hope to see a lot of Valks in Daytona next month!

Sky.. not to rain on your parade but this year prolly wont be near as good as previous years with the current economic situation.. daytona has 2 big mc. events every year, bike week in march and biketoberfest in october. last october the numbers of attendees and vendors was way off.. honda didnt even show up.. lastly be prepared for either great ridn weather or be prepared to be soaked and the coldest you've ever been

That would be my luck, but on the bright side (if I actually get to go) since I have never been, I wont have anything to compare it to.

Sky, gotta halfway agree with Superman. Biketoberfest was down both in attendence & vendors. That being said it still is quite a hoot & very large in scope, you will have a good time I can assure you.  cooldude
As crappy as this winter has been down here I am counting on the Gods of riding weather to smile upon us for Bikeweek. I have a lot of riding & bike show attending to do!

Biketoberfest 2009 numbers were down and it was the best one I have ever been to and I have been to every one. Bike week could use about half of the people that go every year, it gets way to crowded. I only go to bike week for a day or two, can't stand the crowds any longer than that.

Been to Daytona for biketoberfest and Bike Week...I like the fall better...of course less chance of running into snow on the ride down in October...but those hurricanes are hell...

I typically stay in St. Augustine Beach area...then ride down A1-A...nice ride down along the coast and far enough away not to have to deal with all the crouds....

ValkMC, agreed about keeping the numbers down a bit. I like October better too. About 2-3 days is plenty enough for me too. I like the significantly warmer weather better in October  Evil.

Clark, it's about time you came out of the phone booth!!!
Us ex-Rocket owners can't be fooled you know! I still have that pic of your R3 somewhere in my files.  Wink

One of my "gotta do" things this Bike Week is to hit the Triumph demo rides & check out the T-bird as well as the Rocket 3 Roadster. The R3 Roadster has the pegs & shifter back further where they belong like a Valkyrie. Maybe get one of those, add some hardbags, w/s, and some Valkyrie handlebars............................... HMMMM..... cooldude Grin

T-Bird, I'm staying at Port Orange also, not far from the main bridge to DBS

Big Sky, if you want a nice ride I suggest you over to the highest mountain in Florida, Sugarloaf Mountain, nice towns to go thru too, Mount Dora and Tavaras..Around a 120 mile ride

I will either be on my yellow & cream Valk  or my all black street glide.  We are at CJ'S under the bridge most of the time.
