Last evening I replaced the 205/65 with a 180/70 Avon Cobra (AV72) and the difference was absolutely immediate!!! I just came in from a "scuff-in" the new tire ride and I swear it was like getting on and riding a different bike.  The Valk was back!!  She's again agile, isn't "pushed about" by the back tire, she's absolutely stable again at ANY speed.  I swear it's like she is brand new again!!  I guess this all goes to prove that every tire is different, every bike is different, every person is different, SO you team up with what "fits" you personally.

I not looking to convince anyone one way or the other concerning the use of a Car tire on their Valkyrie.

It's all just IMHO

Just curious, what would be considered the normal mileage (life) for the Avon Cobra?

I've never had a car tire on my bike, but I have ridden a valk with a car tire and didn't care for the handling aspect of the bike at all. I' ll stay with the motorcyle tire.

I had the same feeling when I went back to a m/c tire. But I'm back using a car tire again. I find even with the car tires different tires handle different. I run a 205/6-/16 AW430 Yokohama on my tourer and a Riken Rapture 205/55/16 on my Standard. The one on the standard handles way better than the other.

I have almost 14K on my Cobra rear (almost 17K on my Venom front - looks new).  I don't ride very aggressively and this tire has been ridden solo almost exclusively.  Although it shows some wear and is beginning to cup a bit, it is not flat in the middle.  I run it at 38-40 psi.  I plan to ride it until just before IZX.

I've got about 11,000 on my Venoms on my I/S.  A lot of 2-up riding.  Rear has a wide flat wear spot around the middle but some tread left, the front is doing great and showing little wear.

To "Spirited 6" What is CYA??

Responce to other comments:  My last rear Venom delivered 18K and was just getting TO the wear-bars.  My front Venom presently has 27K on it and it's still good for another 3 to 4K.  remember, I do not run them to bald!! This is my first Cobra (AV72?), sure hope it gives me at least the same miles.  I run a stone cold 38/42 PSI, per recommendation via phone conversation with Avon rep.

Several years back, I had one previous Front Avon Venom start cupping way back when I ran the OEM spec. PSI of 33, non since at 38.
