Best Place to Stay Muscle Shoals or Florence, AL

I am planning a trip and will include a stop to see the Fame Studio (we already stopped by Muscle Shoals Studio).

It seems I have heard some people would suggest that I should stay in the Florece area vs Tuscumbia/Muscle Shoals.  Any one have any thoughts.  We will be trying to get the 9:00 AM tour on a weekday.

Days Inn in Muscle Shoals is decent and has a really good Mexican restaurant across the street. If you get 1st floor you can park and your door.

Thanks.  Just heard some one somewhere mention that Muscle Shoals might be a little, unsafe.   I don't remember who, or where or when.   

Last time we went though there we stopped at the Muscle Shoals Studio for their tour and there were not issues.

I work for TVA our biggest warehouse / yard is in Muscle Shoals I've stayed there many , many times over the years never had any trouble whatsoever.
