To Be Of Service is a documentary I just finished watching on Netflix.  If you have Netflix, and haven't watched it, I encourage you to do so.  It is about veterans with PTSD being given service dogs to help them deal with with their disability.  Currently the VA does not recognize service dogs for treatment, so they don't provide them, they do provide massive amounts of medication (government and big pharma in cahoots?  Nah, couldn't be).  Currently, if a vet with PTSD needs or is prescribed a dog, they must pay for it themselves, ~ $30,000, and possibly a long waiting period, or have one donated to them through a private organization.

Please, watch the doc, and I hope it will spark some good discussion here (something other than PAM for a change).  It would be great if we could come up with a way to help.  I look forward to comments.

Rode P G R with a Female Army Sandbox Vet and she NEEDED her service dog. I did Not git into it too deep But she had mentioned between her severance pay and her Family they were able to get her the dog. I had a small converstion with an accquaintance who wanted to train service dogs but do NOT know if it panned out for her. I'll see what I can do to view that video you mentioned. Thanks. RIDE SAFE.

I'm for anything to help vets, but I'm not understanding a $30K service dog for a non blind psychiatric case.  It is well known that friendly animals (pets of all kinds), are help and comfort for people.

PTSD is rated by VA from zero to 100% disabling, and not all are totally disabled.

Watch the movie.  It might help.

When I see how our country treats our vets, and seniors, and how they treat illegals, criminals, and countries that hate us, it disgusts me.
