It would be a good time for Hoosiers to contact their state senators. There is again a bill (senate bill 25) in the Indiana senate which would prohibit businesses from imposing or enforcing rules banning legally owned firearms in locked vehicles on their parking lots.

This has failed to leave committee in past years because it was in a committee ruled by an anti-gunner. This is not the case now, it has passed out of committee and is in line to be voted on by the full Indiana Senate.

The link leads to a press release concerning this and contact info for your state senator. In my case this would mean I no longer have to park my motorcycle or cage along a busy city street instead of in our fenced and secure parking lot if I’m going hunting or shooting after work.

Done!

I have also contacted Senator Kruse again asking for a bill that would inhibit access and publication by the media of CCW holders.  I'm gonna keep pestering him on something I started over six years ago.

I just noted today in the paper that HB1068 passed committee with no nay votes, goes to the House for full vote.  HB1068 would close public access to the database of the names of CCW holders.  A Senate bill is in committee.

Also under consideration still is the bill that would prohibit any action against employees who have firearms in their vehicle while parked in employers parking lot.

I'm glad that I live in Indiana.

True, but Indiana is an "at will" state, meaning an employer really doesn't need a reason to fire you as long as they aren't being discriminatory or violating an employment contract. I wouldn't trust an Indiana employer who doesn't want guns, even in locked cars, on their premises to not fire me anyway if they found out I had one in my car. They just wouldn't say it was because of the gun, and there wouldn't be anything I could really do about it.
